I've read all sorts of stories with how people remeber those that died during the war. What do you think they did? It can be about the ministry, or what individual characters did.

I'll like to think they made some kind of memory stone with the names of the fighters who died in Hogwarts. The victims who died before too, maybe. I think they placed it somewhere public, but not Hogwarts. Hogwarts is for the students who're alive. Plus they kind of need to make new great memories, not with a memory-stone looming over them while they're eating, or something like that.
I mean they made statues of the Potter family in Godric Hollow. The memory-stone wouldn't be to far off.

And the first names on such a memorial should be Cedric and Sirius.

Yes. Cedric's name should be the first one. Sirius should certainly be in the top too, the second, if there wasn't any victims after Cedric until Sirius.

I've always had the idea that when they rebuilt Hogwarts magic was involved to create a mosaic of all those that died in the battle, this would be in the Great Hall and then scattered around the Castle are the names, D.O.B's and D.O.D's of those people, they'd be where they died etc. A way of showing the younger generation what happened without being to grafic about it, does that make sence?

I like the idea of portraits, myself you know, like a hallway or room with all the portraits in, like they have in the old game boy games

hmm about about making it a general one then? Take the title of this thread and honour them where they worked, went to school etc.. Or put ALL the names on the Hogwarts one because thats where the last battle happened, where the war was won etc.. WOW alliteration

I know Hogwarts is where the final battle, and I imagine they would do something to remember it, but not to big. It's a school for children, and the usual public won't have access to it, so I imagine they would put it somewhere public place in London, like the Ministry or something like that.

I would imadine that they'd put a memorial in Diagon Alley, with all the names of Voldemort's victims on it, not just those who died in the final battle and in the three years before it, and that would include the names of the Death Eaters who died as well, because despite the fact that they were Death Eaters, they were victims too.
As for commemorating the final battle, there would probably be a small plaque in the entrance hall of Hogwarts, giving the date of the battle, and saying that Voldemort was defeated that day.
Of course, if Binns moved on, then the war would become part of the History syllabus, and the students would learn about the sacrifice of all those who died in the war.

I ment the summer before the Quiditch world cup started. Bertha something? She was killed before Cedric. Bertha Jorkins. I don't know what JK decided had happened to her, but I suspect her body was eaten by Nagini after Voldemort shattered her mind. There was also Frank Bryce, who died at the beginning of the fourth book.

Well, they don't usually seem to notice the Muggles, so I suspect Frank Bryce was forgotten.
