Christmas is soon to be. I'm really excited since it's one of my favorite holidays. And what to buy is now looming over me, since I'm going on a vacation in two days to a city with much larger number of shops. Much larger.
Now I wondered about presents ... I'm empty for ideas to buy for a seventeen year old boy who has practically everything from a Mac, I-phone, I-pad and even a television. And he hates when someone buys him clothes. You almost always end with returning it to the shop ... Any ideas ?
And maybe for man in his forties? A boring tie?
Seems like I've lost the ability to buy something for males over twelve year.

Seventeen- I'd say money. Every boy I know wants money, and you won't make any mistakes that way.
Man in forties-any music he particularly likes?

Money .. Thought of it, but unfortunately we don't give each other money to Christmas. More to birthdays and that kind of stuff. That's the reason that my aunts and uncles don't give me Christmas presents anymore.. It's crap.
My father. I'm inexperienced into giving him presents, but I've decided that I want to start to give him some presents. I don't know if he listens much .. Just in the car, I suppose. I don't know. Christian music? I've decided to give my mother a book. Maybe I just should give him a Christian book or something like that.

You could take him shopping. It's what my mum does with my nephews, they are both around 15/16 she simply sets a limit and lets them go for it (or sit him in front of a computer for ten minutes if you don't want to take him out). I think the safest bet is to get him to pick his present it saves a lot of bother in the long run.
If your really desperate buy him a selection box and slip money to him anyway that way you have bought him a present so the family can't complain.

What about gift vouchers to shops where you know they would go to? Would that be acceptable for your family?

Yup. Gift vouchers. That's acceptable. The only thing I'm afraid of is that I'm gonna give him a simple gift, and then he in turn gives me a extravagant gift. He didn't give me anything to my birthday, because I didn't say what I wanted, but he gave my sister a I-pad to her birthday.

Would be a bit embarrassing, but can happen no matter what you get. So, if you don't have an idea, a voucher would give him the chance to get what he himself wants, or use it to pay for some of it. Or you just ask him what he wants. That way it's not a surprise, but at least you get him something he really wants. Better than having a surprise gift that turns out to be wrong.

Crap. I forgot this for a second .. I don't know if he's allowed to be in shops. Leukemia does that kind. He's just recently allowed to take the public transportation. It used to be cabs, and they're expensive ... *goes off to check*

Oh. That's a concern, yes. Though some internet shops offer vouchers, too. Otherwise, I just don't know - I'm not good at finding gifts myself.

Poor guy, I just say. I would hate to be dependent on my mother to buy something for him. He sent me once to buy him a DVD.

I've bought all mine on Ebay and Amazon. Got Mum some Titanic and Ejyptian things, Dad got some D.I.Y things and new shoes and my brothers things are technically things that he'll need when his baby arrives. I just need to buy Mum and Dad their traditional slippers and then I'm all done.

Nice. I'll think I'm gonna by my youngest brother the Lion King movie, a gift voucher to my other brother, books to my parents, and clothes or makeup to my sister. Then there's only three more gifts, and I'm finished

It's way too early for them anyway. Let me tell you from experience, early baked cookies never survive until Christmas!

I'm usually really behind that I need to run out on the last day, but this year, I've decided I want to relax in December. Nothing with fussing over the gifts ... Which I probably am gonna do with the last three gifts, but yeah ...

Mum's last titanic present came today- a compass engraved. We'll also be organising our annual shopping trip next week I think. A nice girly day.
