I was wondering if anyone watches the Game of Thrones TV series onf HBO (where my avatar, title and signature come from) or read the books A Song of Ice and Fire? (which the TV series is based off on)

I've heard of it, but not watched it. It looked interesting. Is it really good?

It's fantastic, but I admit I'm biased, being a huge fan of the books. The explosion scene in my sig is from last week's episode during a huge battle, so if that interests you, the show will!

Oh my gosh, the Blackwater episode.
The Wildfyre scene was just perfect. Tyrion's grim apprehension and fear that it'll all go wrong (and his awareness of just what his plan means in terms of human pain and suffering), Davos's growing fear as he realizes just what that green substance is...it was exactly how I imagined it when reading CoK.
I can't wait until the Red Wedding episode.

It's on HBO on Sundays at 9 PM EST if you're in the United States.
In that particular scene, Stannis Baratheon (the man in my avatar) is attacking the city of King's Landing with overwhelming forces so Tyrion Lannister (the dwarf with the curly hair) sets a trap to destroy his fleet with wildfire (magical fire)

I'm a bit worried about the Red Wedding episode as it's going to completely shock non book readers. So I hope that the Red Wedding and Joffrey's Wedding take place in the same episode to make them feel a bit better.

I've read the books, but haven't seen the series. As long as Order of the Phoenix is, it's a quick read compared to these books.

So I hope that the Red Wedding and Joffrey's Wedding take place in the same episode to make them feel a bit better. I've been wondering about how they're going to pull of the Red Wedding, and I have a feeling that they may make it into a two-parter. After all, it seems like they may split the third book into two seasons, and that may be a good cliffhanger for the first half. lrthunder: (sorry, I don't know how to do a multi-quote thing) I know what you mean! The ASOIAF books are just so dense. I think A Dance With Dragons was something like 1040 pages. And there're so many little (but important) hints/scenes you can miss if you don't read carefully enough.

There are also quite a number of Harry Potter actors who have roles in the TV show Maggie Smith isn't confirmed for the Queen of Thorns yet, but she's rumored. Also we get to see Tonks naked

at least the guy who played Aragog doesn't look like Aragog. I would have a problem with that since I have pretty extreme arachniphobia. don't ask me how I got through Chamber of Secrets (my second favorite book) movie. I still can't get through LOTR's Shelob scene, I actually have to walk out of the room for that.

The Hobbit, on the other hand and if I remember correctly, has several of those large spiders.

I have only read the books and haven't gotten to see the show. For those who have done both, how faithful is the show to the books?

The show takes a bit of liberties with the books, but since George Martin is a producer of the series all changes are approved by him. For example they made Daenerys's storyline in Qarth more interesting in A Clash of Kings by having her dragons get stolen and Xaro and Pyat Pree kill the other members of the Council of Thirteen.

I love Game of Thrones! I'm very excited to see the final episode of season 2. At the moment I'm halfway done with book 3.

Thoughts on the final episode? I thought the Houses of the Undying was kind of disappointing, but I loved the ending shot with the Others advancing on the Fist of the First Men.
The Stannis and Melisandre scene was well done, as was Tyrion and Shae. Also Brienne is forever awesome.

I didn't think the House of the Undying scene was that disappointing, only because I was trying not to pump myself up for it. I thought Dany's walk to the Iron Throne was a really cool scene, and done well. Brienne was amazing! I love her. I was really happy with Jon's scene, but I only have one problem...Where's Ghost? The last scene was great! I'm so happy with the final scene! I personally think they've outmatched the first season's final scene.

I have just started reading the first book in that series and am enjoying it. I plan on watching the show once I've finished the books that are written. It certainly sounds interesting.
And that's a really cool fact about the amount of HP actors who are in it.
