anyone entering this year? I've been thinking about it, but I don't think I can, don't have the time. Plus, I don't know what to write about.

I think I might try, but I'm not very good at just committing to one idea.

I'm actually writing more than one story. Whenever I get bored with one thing, I switch over to another story. And if I have a new idea for the old one, I return to it. But I use Nanowrimo to actually sit down and write each day. And all of my stories are progressing - some slow, some faster. But this works pretty well for me.

I don't have the time, because where I am, they've conveniently decided our exams should be in November. Sometimes I try to do something like that in other months, but I'm never able to do the actual NaNoWriMo.

I wanted to, but like Jaffa, my exams are in the next week. Well, not so much exams as they are mid-terms The worst part is that they don't matter in the long-term, but can kill my grades in the short term... And right now, I've got no choice but to cry over the short term Good luck and have fun to everyone else!

It's National Novel Writing Month, where you basically have to try and write a novel in November of about 50,000 words. It doesn't have to be good, but it's good practice and you can always come back afterwards I know mine will be awful but I'm going t give it a go.

No wonder I haven't heard of it. If it was International I probably would have. Good luck to you all.

No wonder I haven't heard of it. If it was International I probably would have. Good luck to you all. Crappy excuse! I'm a German living in Germany, and I've been participating for years! There are a lot of people here, who take part in it. We even have regular meetings. (And we are still leading, word-count-wise. Look here: www.nanowrimo.org/en/word_count_scoreboard ) ;D ((What's wrong with Seattle this year anyway? Usually, they always lead the list...))

Wow, I didn't realise it was so popular. How long has it been going for?

I think it started in 2000 or so... It was pretty small back then. But it grew really fast. There's some info on the homepage in the History section... wait... ah, no. It says that it started in 1999. www.nanowrimo.org/about/history/

I'm doing the same as Ithiarel; I've started a new story for NaNo, but kept up my Founders one. Which probably wasn't the best idea considering the amount of work I have, but it's so much fun that I don't really care. It's brilliant motivation.
