HI everyone i am curious to know who you all thought played their character best in the Harry Potter films to the point were you could picture no one else in their role.
For me it has to be Alan Rickman as Severus Snape and Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy
Who is it for everyone else

I agree with those two, for sure. I thought that Richard Harris was the perfect Dumbledore, but I didn't like Michael Gambon as much. Ralph Fiennes was amazing, and I loved both Matthew Lewis and Tom Felton.

I liked Alan Rickman and Jason Isaacs in their roles, but I do occasionally wonder what the films would have been like with Jeremy Irons or Timothy Dalton instead.
My favourite has to be Maggie Smith as McGonagall. I can't really see anyone else playing her as well, though maybe Judi Dench would have come close.

I honestly can't picture any other actor in any of the parts, and whenever I am reading fanfic the actors are who I am picturing while reading.
When Michael Gambon replaced Richard Harris my first thought was that is so not Dumbledore, but it had more to do with his looks firstly and his acting second. I didn't really start to like him as Dumbledore until the fifth movie when he started to act more like book Dumbledore and they finally fixed his appearance in the sixth movie where he looked like the book Dumbledore. I think they went overboard in the third movie to try and make him into a different character to show respect for Richard Harris' performance of Dumbledore. And that carried over into the fourth movie although not as badly on the acting end of it. I actually think I read somewhere that that was the reason for the change in appearance and why Gambon played the part the way he did.
But after the last three movies I have no problem seeing Gambon as Dumbledore and honestly as brilliant as his acting was I don't know if Harris could have physically kept up with the role.
