I've reread the books quite often, and there are certain places mentioned, but where they are is never explained.
I was just wondering if anyone knew where Godric's Hollow was supposed to be, and the same with Cokeworth and the hut on the rock where the Dursleys tried to hide with Harry when the Hogwarts letters were being sent.
The only places JK gave a location for, were King's Cross, and the Leaky Cauldron. She didn't even really mention where Hogwarts was, other than somewhere in Scotland, or where Privet Drive was, other than Surrey.
It's not terribly important, but I am curious.

Yeah, I'd be interested to know more about that as well

According to the HP wiki, Cokeworth doesn't seem to be a real existing place, or at least it's not known if JKR made the name up or had somewhere specificially in mind, but used a different name. As for Godric's Hollow, the fanon consensus seems to be Wales, though the Wiki has West Country as the location - what I know as Southwest England. Not sure if DH said anything exactly about it. Of course, maybe it's better *not* to know exactly where they are supposed to be, for real places would probably be overrun with curious tourists, and not everyone does appreciate it to be gaped at all the time and asked stupid questions.

As Kitty said the Wiki says Godric's Hollow is located in West Country. I did quickly look through Deathly Hallows to confirm it and it does — "Most celebrated of these half-magical dwelling places is, perhaps, Godric's Hollow, the West Country village where the great wizard Godric Gryffindor was born."
According to Harry's Hogwarts letter the Hut-on-the-Rock is located in the Sea. The closest bodies of water are the English Channel and the North Sea. I'm not sure if you can consider the Channel a Sea so I would say it's probably in the North Sea.
A location for Cokeworth was never mentioned. But if I had to guess I would say it's somewhere between Surrey and the Hut-on-the-Rock. My reasoning is because the North Sea is at least 80 miles from Surrey and if that is where the hut is located it only makes sense for Cokeworth to be in between (the hotel they stayed in while on the run from the letters was in Cokeworth).

Ooh, the West Country seems like a great place for Godrics Hollow! There are a lot of different villages like that there.

Just had a look at a map to refresh my memory where in South England exactly Surrey is. After that, I'd think the hut and Cokeworth have to be somewhere in the Southeastern corner. Btw, Wikipedia lists the towns that belongs to Surrey. Found a Bagshot there - anyone get the feeling that is familiar? And then there is Thursley ... And a Shackleford exists, too. Now I am beginning to wonder if JKR looked at that list and played with the names!
