Anyone here watch Downton Abbey? For those of you who don't know, it's a Biritish TV show about an upper-class family that takes place in the early 1900s. Beware, it is very addicting to watch and can be quite dramatic at moments.
I just finished Series 3 the other day. I really like this show, but I must admit that I'm rather annoyed at the writers and actors at the moment. SPOILER In the past two seasons, three characters that I really, really like have died. Two deaths made sense and the final didn't. I think it was partly because the actor didn't want to continue in the role. END SPOILER
So, here's a thread to discuss and vent about this TV show.

I really want to start watching it, but it's on the same time as one of my parents shows and they hate period stuff :/ it looks great though, I'm going to start watching on Iplayer.

I haven't seen it, but I have read some reviews. It does sound good, but apparently there are some serious inaccuracies. I might try and find the first few episodes somewhere, just to see what it's really like before I decide for myself whether I like it or not.

I watch it and have seen the first two seasons, along with about half of the third. That's mostly because I kept accidentally missing it... :/ Dame Maggie Smith (the grandmother, Violet) is easily my favourite, I swear everything she says makes me crack up laughing.

I haven't noticed that many inconsistencies, and when they are there, they're usually not that big of a deal, such as the precise age of a character.
When I first heard about it, I thought it was a very stuck-up, posh, slow-moving television show. How very wrong I was is all I can say about that.
I'm not a huge fan of Violet as a character, but I absolutely loved Dame Maggie Smith as an actress. One also cannot forget Penelope Wilton (Isobel Crawley). Whenever Violet and Isobel are having a go at each other, I nearly always imagine Professor McGonagall and Harriet Jones in their places.
