Don't worry, celticmagic, that *was* the initial purpose of the thread. Then, as you can see if you did read the first few posts, I suggested someone from the LotR universum to come to Hogwarts, that led to crossovers, and me giving Isilarma the links to some really good LotR stories. Now we have completely hijacked the thread and are using it to talk about Tolkien Isilarma, I love bookshops, too, but as I get all new novels the library of a half-million city delivered 'free desk', the need to visit bookshops has ceased quite a bit. Now I mostly read them from work, and only when I decide I still want it, or when I can't get it from work, I buy it. As long as I can't get a bookshelf à la Moody's trunk, that's a necessity enforced by space. When I bought the HoME books, the difference between Amazon and the bookshop was about €4, which is quite a bit for a paperback. And as I said, in the bookshop, usually it is going to be a bit more. So, easily half or at least nearly half the price extra in the end. That makes the decision easier to go to Amazon for that. Your textbook example really justifies for the same reasons. That's a lot of money for one book! Your house sounds great, btw We were speculating if a programme answers mails based on keywords *grin* Made about as much sense. But you're right, it sounds like the FFN admins. Still haven't gotten an answer to my complaint, of course, and they didn't delete our shared account as asked, either. Now I am really beginning to wonder - do they prevent people from deleting the accounts themselves and ignore these requests so they can brag about their many users? And how many accounts are even still active? We're now having around 10 degrees during the day - nice change. Though since it got warmer, the big rain started *sigh* *snicker* 6 degrees and tropical? Have to tell my Aussie sis that, who thinks of 15 degrees as 'freezing cold' ;D The newspaper had a picture along the line of 'today one year ago' the other day - 2012 = girl in shorts and a top that looked more like a bra, lying in the sun. 2013 = shovel in the snow. Says everything, doesn't it? Just one pony, but it's living in a herd. Right now I am reading a new Tolkien book - something about 'The real Middle-earth'. For a change, it's even in German. Another one about his sources for his world.

Celticmagic - Don't worry, Kitty and I sort of borrowed *stole* this thread. You did put that in the right place. Seeing the Winchesters in Hogwarts would be an interesting experience Kitty - That's a good system. Our local libraries really aren't that great, and I like being able to read them whenever I want. It's a really bad habit; I've been trying to stick to using libraries for the past ten years. Thanks, Dad and I love our house, even if Mum spends quite a bit of time telling us to get rid of stuff Haha, that wouldn't surprise me. I've never had to contact the fanfiction admins, and based on the things I've heard, I probably never will. Hmm, that's a good point, considering the number of accounts that are entitled 'Delete Me.' I love that site, but that is pretty bad. Oh, I wish I lived somewhere hot. We finally got up to double digits today, so hopefully the worst of its over now. Yeah, last year was so nice. Maybe this summer will be extra hot to make up for it That sounds pretty good. Has it got anything you didn't know before?

I have not really been into reading the Lord of the rings books, but I have just started to read the Hobbit and so far I like it, I'm on chapter 3. I really want to watch 'The Hobbit' movie because it looks really cool. It has finaly stoped snowing hear we got about a foot, foot and a half maybe. Anyway, I'd rather live somewhere it was warm but not really hot, if it gets to hot for me I get physicly sick. I'm writing a new Harry Potter fan fiction in letter form and it takes place four years after the war.

Isilarma, I know what you mean, there are books I keep re-reading, and these I just have to buy. But there were others I will most definitely never read again and am glad that I didn't buy them. Oh well, as long as your Mum doesn't have to climb over books to get from one room to the other I don't see the problem We had 27 degrees in Zagreb, and in our final destination it was still over 20, so I can't complain. It was really nice to see some summer weather, and I even got some tan. But it was weird to see snow along the roads in the mountains! Hm, that book was rather interesting. I knew the connections between Tolkien's work and the nordic mythology already, of course, but that book puts the whole story more into perspective by making the connections to the European medieval history and how you can find similar stories or happenings in these days. Celticmagic, I hope you enjoy the Hobbit. Personally, I think that LotR is even better, but I admit that it's not the most easy read. Let us know what you think, will you? Oh, that reminds me, today I went to get the Hobbit DVD. Now I just need time to watch it.

LOL - you know that you ask someone heavily biased? I absolutely love the movies - Hobbit and LotR both. Sure, there are things I don't agree with, but overall, Jackson and his team did such an outstanding job and showed such an immense love to detail and kept rather close to the books. I only can recommend watching them to everyone! And of course, there are these hot dwarves (or elves and rangers, depending on which movie we are talking about) ... *drool* Have seen the Hobbit four times in the cinema already, and with the LotR trilogy I lost track already. The last part probably six or seven times by now, and at least the same numbers on DVD. For someone who barely ever watches any movies, that's pretty good, I'd say. Sounds like you are as fed up with snow or winter in general as I am We had that nice situation that we were walking around at 27 degrees, and then we drove over the mountains and took a picture of me standing besides a huge pile of snow. Weird feeling.

Yea I'm sick and tiard of the snow. Good thing is that we are up to 54F and the snow is gone!! My bike has missed me. LOL I have seen LotR movies more times then I can count and I will have to say I LOVE Aragorn/Strider. Legolas I have to say is pretty cool too. I was tempted to get The Hobbit on DVD but it was way out of my price range for right now and the only one that I can find at the store is on blueray and I don't have a blueray player

*goes converting* That's about 12 degrees C. Yeah, slightly more than we had today, sadly with some cold wind and rain. But then, last Thursday we had still 25C (77F) and two days later we were down to 3C (37F). Stupid weather.
Ha, if you loved the LotR movies, then you will love the Hobbit, too! Even though there's no Aragorn (and yes, I loved him, preferably as scruffy Ranger), there will be a reunion with Frodo, Elrond, Galadriel, the old Bilbo and, of course, Gandalf - all with the same actors as in LotR. In turn you get a younger Bilbo and a number of Dwarves, some of them gorgeous. Of course a bit much fighting, we are talking about Peter, after all, but the visuals are awesome and definitely as great as LotR.
Well, the Hobbit DVD will be available for quite a while, so you will be able to get it later. A warning, somewhere later - probably towards the end of the year, don't have a date yet - there will be an Extended Edition DVD for the Hobbit, so you might want to save your money and wait for that one. For LotR it was better, no doubt.

The EEs are definitely better than the normal ones. I can't wait to see the extra scenes for the Hobbit. Speaking of which, my brother got that for his birthday and made us all watch it (not that I needed much convincing) but even Mum enjoyed it, and she HATES things like that. Although we did have to spend a few minutes at the start explaining to my sister that yes, this is before LotR, and yes that is Gollum, and that's the Ring... Oh well, it was entertaining.
I'm glad you had a good time on holiday Kitty. It's finally gotten warm enough that I can go outside without wearing my greatcoat! I am far too happy about that.
