Wizards and war

So how much do you guys think wizards know about wwII? I know grindlewald was around that time but how did he fit into the muggle world. Also any speculation about the timeline during voldie's first attempt at world domination?

It's weird but I like to think that Grindlewald paired up with Hitler. Remember it was said that Grindlewald never touched Britain, only dealt with Continental Europe. Well historically speaking Hitler never invaded Britain either.

So either Grindlewald paired up with Hitler or had him under the Imperious curse as Dumbledore stopped Grindlewald in 1945 (month not given so if Hitler and Grindlewald paired up it'd be May of 1945).

Voldemort would be young at the time--he was 77 at the second battle of Hogwarts--so he'd be hearing about Hitler on the radio.

According to the Harry Potter Wiki, Voldemort was born on 26th Dec 1926, so he would have been 71 at the Battle of Hogwarts. I wouldn't be surprised if he had either lived at the orphanage during the Blitz, or been evacuated somehow. He was definitely old enough to have experienced the Great Depression, though he would not have understood what was going on, being only three during the Wall Street Crash.

I too think Grindelwald and Hitler worked together, because the timing of Dumbledore's defeat of Grindelwald and the end of the war is just too convenient. Plus I would have thought that Grindelwald would have wanted access to the concentration camps to use the inmates for experiments of various sorts.

Are you sure you didn't use his birth year for his birthday, too? Both the HPL and the HP Wiki say 31st December.
