I was just wondering if anybody was as unlucky as me, having a lot of embarrassing situations happen? It would make me feel better Today, I went to buy the perks of being a wallflower on DVD... It's a 12 eating in my country. I got asked for proof of age, and I'm 16! She didn't believe me after tw different forms of ID, and I was so embarrassed! Finally after ten minutes I was allowed to take my DVD

You'd think an ID is enough proof *shakes head* What else are you supposed to show as a proof??
Oh well, I remember when we had the ponies still at a larger stable, one week day I went in the morning for a ride and another horse owner got a bit bitchy about what I was doing here and why I wasn't at school. You should have seen her face when I told her that at age 25, there's no compulsory school attendance any more ;D I think the last time I was asked if I was still in school was when I was nearly thirty ...

Same here I'm 24 and I've had to put up with idiots thinking I'm 15. My nephew on the other hand shot up like a tree, at 14 he had people who thought he was at least 18. We never tested it but I bet if we had both gone to buy a drink he'd have been fine and I would have been asked for ID.
I'm hoping I take after my Dad and age well, he's in his sixties but most people would guess early fifties at most, the man has less grey hair than my brother, it's truly ridiculous. Anyway I'd rather put up with the issues over my age now and still look good when I'm OAP than have no problem and age before my time.

Sounds familiar, yes. Have experienced that when I took two kids to the swimming bath. No one at the cashpoint believed that the boy had to pay, the girl not, because the boy looked at least two years younger than the girl, while he was actually older. And a friend of mine was a few times stopped by the police when he was out in the night, because he still looked 15 when he was in truth 10 years older.
I've been aging well, too, despite the grey hairs here and there no one really believes my age, lol. Much better than looking old when you are still rather young. Frankly, my former landlord looked like a 60-year-old trying to paint herself down to 30, and it didn't work. Not at all.

This wasn't an embarassing moment for me but it was for the person I was talking to and it was to do with mistaking age and family. I was helping my friend, who is a year older than me, baby sit her two primary school aged brother and sister. Anyway, this man came over, who knew her brother and sister's dad. He was going on about something and when he was talking he was looking only at me, except when my friend replied all the time. Once he had finished talking about the topic I cannot remember, he said something to me about being a good girl for looking after my little sisters and brother. He thought my friend was her sisters twin. When he found out that my friend was older than me and we weren't related, you could just see his cheeks burning.
I have the oposite problem, instead of people thinking i'm younger than i am, they all think that I'm 21. Ever since I started uni at age 17 they've thought that i was 21. I'm starting my third year of uni at the end of the month and they still think that i'm 21, though i'm 19... not to mention they all seem to think i'm into sports.

Indeed rather embarrassing for the man, and probably a bit awkward for you and your friend. By now I am rather careful with assuming any ages, I have learned that you can get it pretty wrong. So, I'm trying not to say anything that might imply that I think someone very young or old. Though it's really sometimes surprising, I've seen people who were my age, but looked much older than I do. On the other hand, my grandmum looked more 80 when she was nearly 100. You really never know.

I know. When I'm telling my parents something about someone, they ask me how old they were and i just stand there going, 'I don't know.'
I had the awkward moment at work where my co-worker said that this client was her age and she wasnted to know if she looked older or younger than her. I didn't want to answer because I didn't want to imply that she was old. Thankfully I got out of because I managed to avoid not seeing the customer.
We have customers like your grandmum. They come in and you think their one age and then they say how old they are and you look at them thinking, 'are you serious?'. The oldest customer we have is 115 years old and i think they look younger than that. I haven't seen them but my co-worker and boss have.

Maybe some people can guess more correctly, I don't know, but I know I can't. Besides, how someone looks depends probably on genetics and on how you live. I mean, someone with little stress and living healthy might look different from someone who has nothing but stress, who eats mostly junk food, takes drugs ... there are too many factors playing a role to estimate properly.

People tend to think I'm about a decade younger than I am. Mainly because I don't wear make-up and don't dye my hair (which is currently strawberry blonde). Because I'm in my early thirties, I can't be able to buy alcohol in shops as much (age restrictions). If I want any alcohol from shops, I let my dad do the buying and he's in his mid 60s, and people think he's about 5-10 years younger.

Shouldn't it be enough to show your ID to prove your age? That's how it works here - people who aren't obviously adult have to show it to get alcohol. If they are 18, then they get it. If they are not, no alcohol.

When I was 16 I actually went out in something that I thought was a dress when it was in fact a bloody shirt. I was a right idiot, especially with a rather pervy tutor watching me.
