How do you guys think they got together? I mean they hated each other in 5th year but were married sometime after graduation. Any ideas on what happened inbetween?

James stopped being a prat, obviously, and I wonder if Lily began to see that Snape wasn't what he had been. Personally, I always suspected that the Marauders targeted mainly the Death Eaters in the making, and maybe Lily finally realised that.

I think James just grew up. Snape's increasing involvement with the Death Eaters probably didn't help his attempts at reconciliation with Lily, while James seemed to be trying to improve from what Remus and Sirius said about his seventh year. The Marauders were bullies, but they were only young. I know Harry used the argument that he was their age and didn't act that way, but Harry's hardly a typical teenager, is he? Lily certainly wouldn't have gone out with James, let alone married him, if he'd continued to act like a prat.

I always thought James probably swooped in right after Sev called Lily a mudblood and took advantage of the situation, not in a bad way but being super nice and sympathetic and just being there for her after she lost a good friend, the perfect opportunity to ingratiate himself with her. I think gaining Lily as a friend is what started making him grow up since I don't think she would have put up with his nonsense and bullying. Lily just grew to love him over time.

I always thought that Lily was attracted to James somehow, I won't say she liked him, I know he was a prat most of the time, but he must had good qualities and Remus did say that Lily always tried to see everybody's good side (saved Snape's life). But his arrogance was too irritating and off-putting, so it wasn't until he stopped doing stupid thing (well, most of them)that she gave him a chance and everything went smoothly from there.
I also believe the marauders targeted mostly the Death eaters in the making or who they thought would be on day, and as Slythrins House mostly never disproved of Voldemort's view, would it be by belief or by fear or just by rebellion's spirit because they feel shunned by the other houses, so the marauders thought of themselves as the saviors of Hogwarts, punishing the bad guys like they deserved. Not realizing that their bullying sometimes hurt others. At this stage, they were all kids.

They never hated each other. James was courting Lily and Lily was playing hard to get. Sirius tells Harry that Lily never hated James and I agree. Yes, she called James names, when he and his friends were bullying Snape, but she was awfully defensive of him when Snape started badmouthing him. While Snape was being humiliated in the scene of Snape's Worst Memory Lily did ask James to put Snape down, but didn't actively do anything to help Snape. Instead she was busy flirting with James. I call it flirting because she obviously didn't hate his advances, otherwise she would not have married that man.
Lily only seemed to hate James, because he was a bully and she could not excuse her attraction to a bully. If you reread the scene where she badmouths him you'll notice that she was paying close attention to James. After getting rid of Snape she was finally free to pursue a relationship with the tormentor of her former friend. She had established that Snape was no-good and on his best way to become a Death-Eater, her friends had her back, Snape had committed the unforgivable taboo of calling her Mudblood and clearly while James might be a bully he was still good unlike Snape.
James finally got that Lily disliked his bullying ways and only bullied Snape from henceforth, but since he didn't do it in front of her on their dates and Snivellus was an evil Death Eater who had called her a Mudblood she was cool with it.
Head Girl and Head Boy, both Gryffindors, popular, good looking and good finally united. Fairy Tale Ending. The End.
