I just watched a programme that I had recorded a few weeks ago, and it featured Johnny Winter, a seventies pop star, and I was just wondering ... and Could this be where JK got the idea for what Lucius Malfoy looked like?

I don't believe she ever describes his hair as long - that's a movie detail. Pale, pointy, blonde, grey-eyed, and taller-than-Harry is pretty much all we get on a description for him (or Draco, anyway, who's supposed to be a creepy clone like the rest of the father/sons in this series) and that hardly counts as a description at all.
Cool headcanon, though!

Well whoever thought up his appearance it always reminded me of anime characters. Also that elf in the second Lord of the Rings movie, Haldir? my first thought when I saw him was he is so related to a Malfoy, actually I'm surprised that was never added into any of the LotR/HP crossover's I've read.

And a moment later, Dudley's best friend, Piers Polkiss, walked in with his mother. Piers was a scrawny boy with a face like a rat.
Is this a hint to Wormtail? I've been thinking that ever since the third book.

*snicker* Haldir and Lucy? Nice comparison, though I'd take Haldir any day! If it comes to arrogant long-haired blondes, I think the Thranduil of the first Hobbit movie would be a good candidate, too

Thranduil? I don't remember that one, I will have to re-watch the movie when it comes out on dvd. But yeah I would definitely take Haldir over Lucius to, in fact I was devastated when he died in the movie, I took it as badly if not worse than when Boromir died.

Thranduil was the Elvenking on that strange animal ... what was that anyway? ... who refused to help the Dwarves. And incidentally, he's the father of Legolas. With Haldir's death I was more irritated than anything, as it wasn't canon. I didn't want the Elves at Helm's Deep, I wanted my favourite Peredhil twins and the Rangers of Arnor, and I didn't want them to die!

I'd never read the book so I had no idea it wasn't supposed to be the elves at Helm's Deep Thandruil on a strange beast, was that in the extended version? I am so watching that movie tonight so I can comment back properly

Oh ... you should read the books, really, they are worth it! In the original, they did meet the twins and the Rangers on their way from Helm's Deep, after the battle. So, no one of them died in that battle. And besides, that part of the movie doesn't make sense. First, the Elves were there way too fast, and second, where did they go afterwards? It seems as if all the Elves died, which is quite strange to me, as they have more battle experience than all the mortals put together. Why did kids and old men survive, but not seasoned warriors?
Sorry, no, that was in the Hobbit movie, not in the LotR, EE or not. You may have missed that in my post above.

I never even noticed that there weren't any elves after the battle That was my bad, you said first Hobbit movie and my mind only registered first movie. I can't wait for that to come out on dvd so I can rewatch it. I hope Jackson is going to bring out extended editions for the three Hobbit movies like he did for LotR. Talk about a movie marathon! Watching all six extended editions, that would be about twenty hours.

Either they forgot them, then it was inexcusable, or they all got killed, which is even more inexcusable *growls* Anyway, the Elrondionnath and Rangers accompanied the Three Hunters on the Paths of the Death in canon. Wishful thinking Yeah, I can't wait for the DVD, either, as I so want the dialogues. While I understand the story without, it's more fun with them. I was so grumpy when the 19.3. was suddenly replaced by 19.4. - what are they thinking??? For the first one, an EE is announced (or rather, Warner did, retracted that one day later, and then Jackson confirmed it - Warner must have been a bit grumpy about that, lol), so I trust Peter to give us one for the others, too. He's way too much the geek not to, and if the extras are anywhere near the quality of the ones for LotR, they will be worth buying just for the extras. Can you see Warner leave that chance out to make more money? Now that TH: AUJ has crossed the billion in the box office, they will probably be putty in Peter's hands anyway ;D Ha, can't wait! While I am not sure how the story itself can be extended so much (I know there were huge arguments about the third movie already and how they can make three out of that thin book), the extras will be worth it anyway, I believe. The Lotr ones are still the best I have ever seen! (Ok, I'm not the expert on that, but the movie freaks I know all say the same, so it has to be true)

Oh sorry, Wingy, I just noticed that I completely overlooked your post. That's what you get when someone mentions my favourite story around me Yeah, sometimes I wonder if the description of Piers was coincidence or not. Though admittedly, I can't really think of how Piers and Peter are connected. On the other hand ... hm, let me check on a hunch ... ha, I knew it! That website explains that Piers is another form of Peter. A bit too much coincidence, huh? Though in the end, it's one of these details that could have had meaning, but was never followed up on.

Though in the end, it's one of these details that could have had meaning, but was never followed up on. It could have had meaning, but maybe wasn't intended to. She didn't necessarily intend to call Pettigrew, Peter when she started the series, that was just something she decided on when she introduced him in the third book, having forgotten about Piers Polkiss.

Yeah, very possible. We may never know, but it's always fun to notice these little details.
