They can be funny sometimes, but other times they're annoying. I think it's because people tend to write them only with humor. Like they don't know when to be serious.

True plus sometimes they can be portrayed as down right cruel and not in the sense that they've betrayed Harry but the other type, having to but into every little sentence, making sexual remarks, think their funny when not and so forth.

I love having them in the RtB when the author strikes a good balance between funny and serious, I can't stand when they make them out to be immature idiots. Also even though I love the twins they are not perfect and I like when the author has the other characters point out the twins flaws such as when their treatment of Ron and pranks in general turns cruel. I hate twin-speak, once in awhile is fine but when everything they say or the majority of everything is in twin speak it is highly annoying.
And speaking of the twins and Ron I have yet to see any reaction written in RtB when Molly tells the twins to watch over Ron in the first book. Every time I read that I picture one of the characters (usually one of the trio) making a comment about what a lousy job they did of that, but like I said of the hundreds of RtB I've read no author has commented on that. Has anyone else here thought about that when reading the story?

That is a good point. It is also annoying when another group of people does "twin speak" and the twins complains about it.

My annoyance with the twins is when nobody yells at them for anything. I've seen fics where Molly- MOLLY- doesn't chew them out on their behavior but rather just lets it slide. They can do no wrong! It drives me insane! They aren't perfect. And when they're the only Weasleys (Besides Bill) to not get bashed in an RTB even a little, I grit my teeth. The point of RTB's are to analyze the characters, show them their flaws and mistakes, and the twins weren't exempt from that.

I've read a few where they get yelled at for their behavior. There was a good one where there is a family meeting to help Ron with is confidence issue.

I think I know which one your talking about teehee and it was a good one, it had the family meeting but also had a good balance between funny and serious twins. There are very few that don't let the twins get away with the stuff they've pulled unfortunately.
I have to admit I think it's funny when the trio pull "twin speak" and the twins get offended by it. The few fics I've read it in the author describes the scene and the twins outraged expressions so well it's funny.

For me both is annoying - when the twins get away with everything and when the opposite is true. Actually, in most fics I notice more the problem that Molly and Hermione tend to yell at the twins, Ron and Harry for every tiny little bit or slap them, while on the other hand, Hermione and Ginny get away with everything. That's not any better.
Personally, I prefer it when the author manages to show the twins' funny side, but does show that they can behave mature and take things serious, and that they don't get away with everything, either.
As for 'twin speak, it's nice now and then, but I'd rather not have them use it all the time, that gets tiring, too. And in the books they didn't it all the time, either, right?
