If there was one type of fanfic you could ban from the internet what would it be?
Not that I would really want something banned, just because I don't like it doesn't mean others should be denied but it's a nice fantasy ;D
For me it would be to ban het for the main character of a fic. Sticking with HP as an example it’s disappointing when I see a good plot that I would really like to read to find out it has Harry paired with Ginny, Hermione or any other female really. And by banning het fic, it would also eliminate the incredibly frustrating, maddening femHarry since from what I’ve seen 99% of those authors make Harry female for the express purpose of putting Harry with a male character (seriously he’s a BOY, get over your homophobic selves). Banning het of main character would also eliminate a great many of the horrific OFC since a lot of them are created to insert the author into the story as Harry’s romantic interest. So, killing three birds with one stone just by banning one type of fic *rubs hands gleefully while cackling evilly*

I'd ban female Harry stories, so as to force authors to keep Harry as a boy.
I also don't like Hurt/Comfort fics, especially when Harry's the one who's hurt and needs comforting. I prefer ones where Harry is doing the comforting, because that, to me, seems to be more like what he would do.

Blackrose, can you imagine how the homophobics would react to that?  What would I ban? - Female Harry. Most definitely - all Harry/Draco and Harry/Snape. Recently had a look at the new stories with the vague intent to check if there's something new that sounds readable. One look at all the H/D and I hit the back button! Ugh! - any stories where the author can't even use a minimum of grammar and spelling - any stories that give Harry more than two last names (cutting down on the harem fics by default) - multi-chapter stories that have real chapters with less than 500-1000 words |

All stories that don't make sense, a lot would go bye bye that way.
Make some sort of rule that says, of the story is really out of cannon that it should be marked as AU or alternet universe. That would cut down on some confusion.

Those all powerful fics. I don't mind it if Harry gains 1 or 2 powers such as Occumency & an Animagus form but not 5 million different things and the insane amount of money.

There is only one like that, that I like which is "a maruader's plan" because it fits well within the story and it is well explained.

GMTA Recently I've been reading the older stories again and have to say that his writing has improved. Plus, he manages to come up with some new ideas, which is hard in this fandom. |

Harem fics. Any character having more than two- And I'm being generous- spouses, lovers, etc is generally- ugh. MPreg. Hermione with anyone that is a minimum of fifteen years older to her. Bashing. Don't like a character. Fine. Don't make up flaws to make them look bad and take character 'quotes' and turn them into justification for Ron or Molly or any other Weasley being a love-struck fan-girl/gold-digging whore. Instead, write them out and use both good and bad qualities to make them into an appreciable villain. Or an appreciable and still respectable side character. Not a punching bag for the main character who suddenly opened his eyes to the years of abuse he's been getting and how he'd really soul-bonded to Bloody Malfoy. Of if you really have the character, kill them off. Just pretend they never existed. I don't care.
If you can't write a character or a romance- don't. I just read an awful Ron/Hermione where Ron was yet again hopelessly in love with Hermione, she cheated on him, he was heartbroken, did some interesting stuff all while she put him down in front of her new friends, etc and then- she turned around and said sorry and it was all forgiven. I don't know what was worse, Hermione being so OOC, or the shifty romantic development that left me growling in anger.
