So I was reading a rtb called "Hogwarts and the Deathly Hallows" by CheckersChance2 and in the 24 chapter they pose this question at the end.
"Why does Voldemort call Peter by his Maurader name?" I hadn't thought about it before now, but any suggestions?

I think he does it taunt him. To remind him of how his life was before and how it is now. I think it's also like saying 'You betrayed the people who gave you this name so I know you'll probably betray me one day.'

I think its just a reminder that Voldemort gives him about his power. It like saying 'You feared my power so much that you betrayed your friends to me'.

Makes sense, yes. It would be like Voldemort to always remind Pettigrew of his treason. And it might be a not so subtle hint that only with him he's going to be safe, after selling out his friends on the other side. A warning not to try the same stunt with him as well, maybe.

It might also be because Peter Pettigrew is after all legally dead so it could be Voldemort's way of reminding him he no longer has any option but to remain in his service.

In away it's making fun of Peter, reminding him of the 12 years he spent as a rat. I feel like, Voldemort reminds him that he lost his human persona (when he faked his own death) and it left only the rat one. That now he is less than a death eater, he is Voldemort's "pet". shudders.

Yeah, it makes you shudder, but Pettigrew made his choices, and now has to live with the consequences. For some reason, I can't feel sorry for him. His treason in 1981 was bad enough, but then, after being caught, he went and did even worse - he brought Voldemort back, which bound him even more to that monster, as after that stunt he couldn't go anywhere else.
