This happened in a flash of tumblr's, fever and consuming far too much sinus medicine. Having had a few days to beat it into submission I'm surprised at how much I can get it to make sense.

It's a Harry Potter/West Wing crossover with a fictionalised British government (if the West Wing could get away with making George Bush a minor governor, then John Major can lose the 1992 election, although to whom I'm not sure).

Jed Bartlet becomes president a little bit earlier (potentially by me changing the year of Presidential elections) and is President at the time of HBP with the 'we will arrange for the President to forget the call'. Somehow somebody does make President Bartlet forget, until Mrs. Landingham/Charlie/Josh/Leo reminds him. He's shaken that he could forget something like that and calls the PM.

Somehow this leads to the PM explaining about the Wizarding World and that, for whatever reason, there is somebody in the US who is listening to British commands (but he didn't have anything to do with that). They both agree that they each need to take serious control of their respective wizarding worlds, because mind-wiping the leader of a country is not OK. Also because having what amounts to a sovereign nation within a sovereign nation that has different laws is probably massively illegal (and unethical). This leads to the PM and Bartlet learning about Harry Potter and his relationship with the wizarding world.


If you've never seen the West Wing, I utterly recommend it.

I like it. I always had a problem with the 2 governments in a country and all those secrets and manipulations. Muggles, like wizards have the right to know the truth. I also have a problem with the state of secrecy, it's not like the wizards are living in another dimension where their decision won't affect the muggles.

I would like that the muggles find a way to stop it and try to have a consensus with the wizards.

Congratulations, you could accidentally have just caused an international incident for a tiny, tiny reason. Like, a HUGE international incident. I'm fairly sure countries have gone to war over less.

Yes, that will be being addressed. The PM actually gains a backbone and so does the Queen (I'm not exactly a die-hard royalist but considering the amount of time I've spent writing academic essays about her ancestors I'm quite attached to the general idea of the British Royal Family) regarding the Statute of Secrecy. Which I'm fairly sure is getting abolished because the wizarding community has taken it too far.

Also some of the West Wing staff are a little confused as to why they're relying on one nearly-sixteen year old to do things. Yes there's a prophecy but has anybody actually just tried throwing a grenade at him? I mean, he'd still have Horcruxes but he'd also be incorporeal again and much less of a threat.

And Jed Bartlet vs Dumbledore showdown.

England will probably be sanctioned by the other magical governments because they made the muggles aware of the wizards. US wizards would also ask why did English wizards interfere with their muggles? There must be some territorial jurisdictions that are broken.

I rather they fight Voldemort together rather than use Harry as a shortcut, and also it would show the wizards that the muggles aren't just decorations.

You know I think they could even convince Dumbledore to join them, especially if they fight him and show him he is wrong. And I mean more than the usual 5 seconds.

Oh, just have the muggle military throw a bomb at Malfoy Manor, destroying it despite the wards, and it will be the eye-opener for the magical world in general and the purebloods in particular to show them that muggles aren't just animals, but can eradicate them from the face of the earth if they aren't a bit more careful.
