Something I've been thinking about since a lot of what I read, which is mostly stuff where 7th book canon is defenestrated with extreme prejudice, still has this ship and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. Mostly because I've only read the seventh book, as a whole, once (the only physical copy I own is the signed one, and I don't want to hurt it).
I mean it's not something which will make me stop reading a story, but it's also something which won't make me start. I'm not even sure if I prefer it to pairing Remus with an OC or mostly-OC (characters who are named by JKR but otherwise have no canon appearance or personality) which happens more to Sirius (again, something I'm not awfully fond of - but that is more of a sticking point).
Thoughts?

I like Remus/Tonks. But, the only stories I like reading either have Harry as the lead character, or have him paired with someone. I don't read stories that have any other characters in the lead, so I can't really say whether a story with those two as the leads would work or not.

Hm ... I don't have a problem with the pairing, but I don't mind if they get paired with someone else. But as physicssquid, I don't really read much in the way of stories without Harry as main character, and I am not into romances, so I never looked for any Remus/Tonks stories. Their relationship is just a byproduct, so to speak. On second thought, with Remus/Tonks I have much less problems than with Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione, so I guess they are all right to me

I really like it, it's probably one of my favourites. I was really annoyed when they just forgot about it in the films! I don't know why I like it so much, I just think it worked really well. I don't go out of my way to find fics with them as a pairing but if the pairing does happen to be there I'll read it.,

speaking of the films... The way Remus and Tonks reached towards each other but their hands didn't touch just made me cry. To top it all off when their bodies were laid out in the hall their hands still weren't touching And Teddy was only mentioned once and Harry was never made godfather

I don't care for it. Tonks was too young for Remus. Their personalities don't mesh. Remus sucked as a husband and father. He was too old and too jaded. We didn't get any scenes in the book that made me care about their pairing. If we had gotten those scenes though, and they had been any good I wouldn't have minded. I don't dislike well written romance, just sucky one.

I hate the pairing.
Remus has said multiple times that he did not want a relationship with her, because he was too old and dangerous. He didn't want to because he was a werewolf, and when he told her that, she should not have pressured him into a relationship and in time, a child.

But you are right, especially about the baby. Still, it is his own fault--she might have pressured him, but she didn't force him. It takes two to tango. And as an adult he has to take responsibility for his actions (baby).

I honestly think it's overrated and not even that tragic I One of my favorite pairings in Generation War was Viktor/Greta mostly due to how tragic the couple were and how if history had taken a different turn the to of them would have been allowed to date/marry but due to Viktor being Jewish and Greta a German Gentile it was forbidden in Nazi Germany hell Greta risked her life sleeping with Obersturmbannfuhrer Dorn of the SD to get Viktor papers to leave Germany tragically Viktor will never see Greta again due to her being arrested and in the last days of the war executed for defeatism aka "subversion of the war effort"

Actually, I really like it. Others might argue that Tonks just pressured him into the relationship, but he was trying to stay away from her because he thought he wasn't good enough and that he was too dangerous due to his lycanthropy. He just cared about her, so you can really tell he loved her back. He left when she was pregnant, and that I do agree was a bad decision on his part. But he didn't leave because he didn't love her, he left because again, he thought he wasn't good enough to be a father. Their relationship is actually really deep and the subplot of their romance reminds the reader that the entire Wizarding World doesn't only revolve around Harry Potter. Also it's one of my favorite ships and nobody can tell me otherwise (I'm very difficult to persuade btw).
