When reading about HP and learning he has abilities that have been blocked, or curses that have been put on him, what are some of your most favorite ones you've seen to least favorite ones? I'm working on a chapter right now and need some ideas, as I'm stuck.

For me it's not so much a question of like and dislike, but of believability. That some of Harry's learning abilities have been blocked would be believable to me, seeing how the son of two very bright parents always relied on Hermione to do the thinking and researching, for an example. And some of his magic, maybe. Did you ever notice that most of Harry's great achievements - like fighting the Dementors, the maze, the DoM fight - fell at the end of the year, but during the year he was pretty average? If it wasn't these stupid blood wards draining his magic, then you have to wonder where that came from and why Harry only in very serious situations could break through it.
Another one that might be more believable to me would be metamorphmagus talents, seeing as Harry once regrew his hair overnight. Was that accidental magic, or is more behind it? If you go with Charlus and Dorea as his grandparents, then he could have it from the Black side of the family. But it's not a requirement.
On the other hand, stuff like "natural (multiple) animagus" isn't very realistic in my eyes, seeing how difficult it is to become one.
Personally, I prefer some believable blocks to an overabundance of abilities that aren't even very useful but are added just to make Harry seem more powerful. But that's just me.

I think it gets a bit out of hand when the author starts making abilities that we've never seen before (like elemental control or something). Or when there's this huge list of abiliites that Harry somehow has.
Also, as regards the 'learning abilities' being blocked. I've always disliked that, just because I don't think you can actually block learning.
What would make sense to me is some sort of distraction curse or a curse which mimics some of the effects of clinical depression. So either whenever Harry goes to do his homework he becomes distracted until the last possible moment/he has somebody standing over him and making him do it or he just loses interest in his schoolwork unless he forces himself to do it.
I mean PS, he reads and re-reads all of his textbooks before September 1st. CS he 'really wants to do his homework'. Which would also tie in to a curse rather than a block because Dumbledore would be able to apply the curse throughout the year but not during the summer.

Ok, a curse or compulsion works for me, too. I don't insist on a block, it was just an example for things that seem somewhat believable from canon.
