If we were plotting revenge on FF we would be pooling together resources to create a rival fanfiction site to FF that would put it out of business, but we're not doing that here are we?

Haha that'd be fun lol. but we couldn't do it here If we wanted to anyway (at least I don't think) because if we're gonna do it to the point its out of business this site would have to be beyond the point of just harry potter reading the books fics.

I actually had a similar thought like that maybe an hour ago, though mine had all authors just pooling their money together to buy the Admins/Owner(s) of FF.Net out and run it on their own.

You know, we probably could do that. If one combined the number of users on this site, along with the number of users who signed numerous petitions one could safely assume that a group this size could buy out the owner of fanfiction and run it ourselves.

That it would be. You know, yourfanfiction is looking promising for everything but RtB's. They only allow snippets, not the whole book.

In reference to the subject title. Karma is meant to be a way to praise a person for a post they did. Kinda like clicking Like, on Facebook. But here if you like a post click Exalt, if you did not like a post you click Smite. Plus it is a silent way of giving your opinion on a post unless you add a code to the site. *well assuming the code still in use that is*
But yeah it is more just a novelty, Point can disable it in the General Settings if he wishes.

Maybe an online program where you input their profile name and let the computer randomly sort/choose it.

Could the karma be used as sort of house points if we set up quiz/game threads at some point? (I was planning on adding these when everything had settled.)

Could the karma be used as sort of house points if we set up quiz/game threads at some point? (I was planning on adding these when everything had settled.) There are codes that can be used that way but they are a major pain to setup and then they really don't work the way one would think they should. So best bet would ask for a game room and setup a couple threads one listing the points and who is in what house. Then just update the posts as they come. That way there is less chance of cheating.

To add on to my own posts since it has been read. The reason using Karma as a House Point System is bad, is that it takes a Staff Member editing the profile of the user and manually adding the points. Same issue with all the codes I have seen and used. A lot of sites do away with Karma because people gang up on a certain member to get them in the negative. But if we ever do a Member of the Month or Story of the Month sort of thing, then Admin could give Karma as part of the reward.

I realised that the house points idea would be a major hassle after I posted about it lol. I think a thread would be better.
