What do people think about maybe setting up an IRC channel to meet on? I'm on irc.coldfront.net pretty regularly and I'm IRC-savvy, so it wouldn't be a problem to set up a channel, I just don't want to do it unless there's interest.
Here's a guide:

The Pocket IRC Guide and Dictionary
This is not meant to be a gigantic end-all IRC guide. It's based on the most commonly asked about commands that I've seen on IRC over the past two years. Here, divided up into relevant sections, are most terms and commands you'll ever need to know for IRC. Sorta.
Definitions:
IRC - Internet Relay Chat; the thing you're reading this guide for, fool
Netsplit - when one or more of the subservers that create an IRC server (like subzero, storm on Coldfront) disconnect from one another. Sometimes with hilarious results.
Nickserv - the part of IRC that allows you to manage your nickname
Chanserv - the part of IRC that manages channels
Hostmask - the IP equivalent for your nickname. Can be seen by typing /whois nickname. The hostmask is ALWAYS in the following format: user@domain.host. * denotes a wildcard. For example: *!*@*.mibbit.com covers all people with the host of mibbit.com
Whois - /whois nickname. A command which tells you the hostmask, public channels, and status of the nickname.
Voice (+v, +) - no channel operator rights. You can talk in a moderated channel.
Halfop (+h, %) - some channel operator rights, mostly user kick and ban commands
Operator (+o, @) - several channel rights, including modes, kicks, and bans.
Superop (+ao, &) - most channel rights, including channel-wide kicks, autokick
Founder (+qo, ~) - all channel rights, including channel-wide kicks, bans
In #fanfiction Admins and authors (and me, for now) will be Founder (~), SuperOperator (&), or Operator (@) (which is which is TBD later)
Commands: (NOTE: For Coldfront ONLY, /ns and /cs can be used instead of /msg nickserv and /msg chanserv. They will be used in all commands listed here. Most of these commands are universal (notable exception, synIRC uses "group" instead of "link"). If you are not on Coldfront, you must use /msg nickserv or /msg chanserv)
- Nickserv commands

register nickname........................................................................./ns register password email@here
authenticate nickname......................................................................./ns auth ###
identify nickname........................................................................../ns identify password

Set user access to a channel......................................................../cs access #channel nickname access-level count
Access Levels: 100 = SOP, 50 = AOP, 40 = HOP, 30 = VOP
Count is the number of people on the access list. Those not on the access list have a level of 0, and cannot join the channel. These numbers are identical to the SOP, AOP, HOP, and VOP commands and those can be substituted in place of the numbers.
- Channel Modes

To connect to #fanfiction:
If you have a dedicated IRC client such as mIRC or xchat or will have one, then you can just connect to irc.coldfront.net on port 6667 and type /j #fanfiction after you've connected
If you want to use mibbit:
Go to chat.mibbit.com/?fanfiction=%23chat&server=irc.coldfront.net. In the "Nick:" field, type your nickname, and that should be all that is necessary
After that, you can register your nickname using the instructions in the post above.
