While I think we all can agree that this site is serving as a decent archive for "Reading the Books" stories, there is still something missing. A post in Facebook alerted me to a site called yourfanfiction.com. This site is relatively small (only about 1,000 stories or so), but the kicker is they have a section specifically for "Reading the Books" type stories! Not only do the stories there have similar search functionality to ff.net (i.e. you can search for specific characters, genres, etc.) but you can select stories to be saved as Favorites, and most importantly, the site itself is much neater than this one. (No offense to Point Given. It's just that this site is more forum-based than being actively suited for stories). In any case, I thought I'd help spread the word. There's only 4 HP "Reading the Books" stories on the site currently, but hope to see more in the future. That being said, anyone on here who decides to post there story on yourfanfiction.com can use this thread to announce that they've done so.

I've seen that. The only problem is that the runners of that site don't want the entirety of the books written out in the story.

I don't like it, especially if you read the books and know what was taken out. Would be annoying to read it like that. I think I can live with a forum based site where I can see the characters read the book in it's entirety, than read it in snippets. There is a lot in these books and I don't think snippets will do much. People will start to rebel and start keeping the whole books in their stories and we will have the whole "purge" situation again.

I must say that if you are going to be posting RtB stories it is not the greatest, but otherwise they don't have too many other restrictions. I will give it a shot mostly cause they allow MA content to be posted.

Since the only stories I seem to be writing are mostly Characters Read, I'm going to have to decline this. Still, pretty cool.

I couldn't stand just reading snippets. That's not what I read RTB fics for. I want them to get every detail and want to see every reaction to those details. It's pointless otherwise.

Also, I've really missed being on a forum!

Back when I got internet, the first website I spent any length of time on was a HP forum, so it seems somehow fitting to be here. It brings back fond memories of the old times, just minus the 'evil admin'.

*chuckles* Yeah, same here. Though it was Gravitation for me. I almost feel like I've come full circle.

It was Eragon for me lol. I seriously miss the RPs from there. One of them had nearly 20 threads of over 100 pages we posted that much. I could have seen it going so much furhter too if the site hadn't run out of money.

Well, at least one of the 4 HP stories is there in its entirity, so I don't think that snippets are an issue unless somebody makes a fuss about it...

No, but I'd rather not knowingly break a site's ToS.

Why not? We've all been doing it on ff.net for almost a decade!

For me, it is because I didn't realize that I was doing it. I honestly thought it was okay, seeing all of the "Characters Read" fics around. If I had known, I'd have taken my work elsewhere.
And the last thing I want is to post on a new site, only to have my work deleted.

Seeing how long they have been around and no one seemed to complain, I was really surprised when that came up. Some months ago, I looked at the TOS, and I can't even remember it saying they are forbidden. There was only something about MST being forbidden, but I had no idea what on earth that was supposed to be, so I just forgot about it. Only lately they seem to have defined that a bit more.

Yeah, same here. I did look at the ToS before I started writing, but it didn't say anything about the subject matter I wanted. *sighs* A lot of annoyance could have been avoided if the FFN mods had bothered to explain.

Or if they had enforced their own rules earlier then after 10 years. They have about as much common sense as wizards, if you ask me.

Actually, I think wizards have MORE common sense... yes, it's that bad. =/

Haha! Wow, that is bad... I hope the mods get their shit together. I still love FFN and don't want to see it go down any further.

To be honest, I am less and less inclined to even check on there. I look at my favourites for updates, but that's it. No scanning for new stories any more. Now I rather come here.

I agree. If I wasn't following a few non-character reading the books story, I would have closed my fanfiction account. I love coming here-it's fun reading people debate on their favorite and least favorite things.
