Along with what Kuma said, I think that only muggles who are uber-religious would honestly care. Most people I know would be in awe, but also would be accepting.

No problem Kuma.
Hey, do you think that there were any other religions? You know, like a Jewish muggleborn or a Mormon halfblood (mainly muggleborns and half-bloods would most likely be religious).

Ginny, are you allowed to own a weapon without license?
Kuma, you are right. Look at all these fanatics who think reading HP leads to children getting into occultism and worshiping the devil and all that garbage even in the more tolerant countries. I'd not want to know how some countries would react if magic was real ...

My religion, I think, would be tolerant but encourage people to stay away.

I think so. Since magic is all over the world, I wouldn't be surprised to see people of different religions born with magic. I think the most interesting one would be a child born into an extremist Muslim family. Interesting, and rather sad.

Kitty: no, we need permits to own the gun (hunting permit, concealed weapons permit). You are allowed to bring a gun onto any college campus in Virginia after the Virginia Tech shooting though.

They allow bringing guns to college, after a shooting? ...What? Or was that a typo?

I will say that there are quite a few people who own illegal guns...

They allow bringing guns to college, after a shooting? ...What? Or was that a typo? No, no typo. Virginia legislature stated that the students should have the ability to protect themselves incase another shooter gets on campus. Therefore, all Virginia college campuses must allow their students to carry a gun. I think they still need a permit though, I'm not sure.

That seems crazy to me. Wouldn't that in the worst case scenario end up with many more victims? Here they'd ruthlessly confiscate every single weapon brought to the school. And no concealed weapons permit for everyday use (I asume it's for that?).

Nahara: well, no one ever said our legislature was full of smart people.
Kitty: Like I said before, you don't have to be smart to be in politics in Virginia. You just have to be rich. And yeah, the concealed weapons permit is for everyday use.

*grin* Which legislature is full of smart people? Does that even exist?
Here only policemen are allowed weapons. Weapons for sport and hunt are only used for just that and otherwise have to be locked away. Everyday use is absolutely unthinkable.

That is a very good point Ginny...
Makes me want to move from America... I never did like it, to much of a 'follow the leader' type of country.

Here, if anyone thinks of suggesting gun control laws, the fanatics get all in a tizzy about their second amendment rights (funny how those are the only rights they seem to get into a tizzy about).

Only thing that's keeping me in America is the fact that I'm still in college and the only other country I'd want to live in (Greece--what? I love its culture) has decided to elect Nazis and Communists into a committee to lower their insane debt.

I don't mind gun control, but honestly most of the time it's pointless. I doubt the guy about to murder someone is going to care about gun control laws, but it hinders the people who legally want guns to defend themselves.

I'd like some common sense laws to be honest.

Whats weird to me, is in Florida, the place typically thought of when thinking of Bigotry, most of the "rednecks" I know don't mind gay marriage.

America also gets up in arms about Gay Marrage... *sighs* Ah yes. Forgot about that little one. Fewer and fewer Americans are actually getting into that tizzy now. Of course, seeing as the focus is on Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes--it makes me weep for the future of the media.

Florida is also the 'birthplace' of the Stand Your Ground law. But cool about the red-necks not minding gay marriage. Some faith in humanity has been restored.
