Same here, Ginny. *sobs* We're becoming a bland, hyper-critical cultural wasteland! If only there was some way our country could stop being so idiotic! Wait, could it be.... I'VE GOT AN IDEA! Stop spending trillions of dollars on war and start spending it on education. But don't cut spending. You never cut spending in a recession (although technically we're in a depression). Hoover cut spending in '29 after the Wall Street Crash and the run on banks and that's what led to the Great Depression.

Exactly! But it seems like that sort of thing is never going to happen. I wonder how our modern-day issues in the world would affect the magical community.

Why am I now having one-shot ideas? I can almost picture the reactions of the British Wizards during the invasion of Iraq, the bombing of the train stations and subways, the world wide economic crash.

I feel so stupid right about now xD Being only 13, I can't say much about any wars and the Wizards reactions... I haven't exactly covered those in class.

Don't feel bad Nahara I'm only 18 so it's not like the memories are all that clear--being only nine when America invaded Iraq.

The Muggles would win:- - They outnumber wizards by quite a lot, and have weapons that can do more damage than many spells. - Wizards wouldn't be able to cope with using muggle weapons, so they wouldn't have as many things to use, and their shields probably wouldn't work against bullets or projectile weapons. - Most guns are unaffected by magical inteference, so there would be no way to stop them working, not without taking them apart, which only a few of those who grew up in the Muggle world would know how to do, and they would only know that if their families had had anything to do with either of the two world wars or the Gulf war. - Nuclear weapons might be dropped on various places in the wizarding world, such as Diagon Alley or the Ministry, wiping out the centre of commerce and the central government. They could also possibly drop a bomb or two on Platform 9 3/4, making sure that the Hogwarts Express couldn't be used to transport anyone to Hogwarts. As for the muggle-borns and squibs, they would be hunted by both worlds, and possibly killed or taken to camps like the Jews during WW2. Those are my reasons for thinking that the Muggles would win. re: nuclear bombs - if they were dropped on Diagon Alley/Platform 9 and Three Quarters, it means that a large portion of muggle London would become radioactive and loose a lot of buildings in the blast. If were dropped on Hogsmeade and Hogwarts, it would make the area up Scotland radioactive. More to the part, do we actually know how close to muggles are Hogwarts and Hogsmeade are?!

Yeah, don't feel bad. A few years ago, I wouldn't have cared.

It's like that a touch in the UK. Also we giving the Eurozone/rest of Europe money, in which the UK could use on ourselves and try get rid of the debt we have.
At the moment there's talk of having the UK come out of the Euro.

Heck, it wasn't until I reached puberty that I actually started caring about what our government was doing--even though I wanted to be a part of it since the age of four.
My mom was complaining about her boss and I, only being four, stated that I would become the president so I wouldn't have a boss.

Thanks Kuma. Well you lot, I've got to go as I've got Tae-Kwon-Doe to get ready for. See y'all in three hours (TKD is one, and then my family likes to eat after I come back and we plan on watching OotP).

I think we should cut money on the war on drugs, but not completely dismantle the military/pull soldiers out immediately. I completely support the statement "You may not support the war, but you damn well better support our troops."

I think the war on drugs should be stopped completely. If people want to put harmful substances into their bodies, I say let them. It's their decision.

Agreed Vira, I am a complete supporter of the troops as my cousin passed away because of a bomb over in Iraq. But the war itself is stupid.

Awesome! Remind me not to get you mad. Don't get me mad. I just hit a kid in the head with an inside crescent kick during class, and this is a kid who thinks he's better than I am even though he's a brown belt and I'm a red-black belt (the dojo I go to is weird). Let's just say he won't claim that he can do a better inside crescent kick than I can for the time being. *smirk*

Murder as in "BLOODY HELL, I'M PRETTY SURE I DIDN'T HAVE A MUSCLE THERE AN HOUR AGO!"
*winces* sorry, I tried a skipping front snap kick today on a black belt and landed on my back. It just twitched a bit just now.

I tried to be careful Kuma *looks sheepish* I jumped too high during the kick and that's how I ended up on the floor instead of kicking the black belt. Although, I did get him three times with a spinning side kick....
Meh. I've had worse pain than a twitching back. Tore a ligament in my ankle March of Senior Year in High School, sprained my arm in first grade climbing up a slide while playing cops and robbers with my dad, tore something in my knee September of Sophomore year...

...err, what was the topic of this thread before we started talking about Tae-Kwon-Doe and pain in backs?

Muggles vs Wizards lol. We got quite a good bit of conversation out of it before the topic started changing.
