Travis regarded her coldly. "Unfortunately, I can't accept that answer." There was a random crash that came from Alice's bedroom. A few moments later, a fierce wall of a man stormed into the small, trashy living room.
"This bitch has nothing but junk! Vance growled at Travis. But his angry expression morphed into sadistic glee. "Is this her?"
"Yep, that's her alright."
Travis sighed. "Well, you heard the man. Sorry doll, but it's time to teach you a valuable lesson."

Alice jumped in shock as the second man appeared. She hadn't even heard him! The firt man's reply had already shaken her, but she had her wand. She knew she could possibly fight him off. Two of them however, well, she'd never been good at Defense in school, and she doubted adrenaline would help her learn now.
"Please, I have some money, just take it, please. You don't want to hurt me, I'm not worth wasting your energy on," she said, clutching her wand like a life line as she backed away towards the wall.

Vance laughed, while Travis merely gave her a look - the kind a master would give an obedient dog before punishing it. "That's not good enough, Boot. Vladmir wants an example made out of you, so that is what we're going to do."
"Expelliarmus!" Vance shouted, instantly removing the wand from her grasp. "Can I do it?"
Travis shrugged. "Help yourself. I'm not in the mood to get my hands dirty."
"Hell yes!" He then turned to Alice and raised his wand toward her. "Cruci-"
A knock at the door stopped them.
"Open up! I've got a friend of her's!" shouted another voice. "Some rich pure blood."
Travis smirked, and looked at the frightened girl. "Well, it seems that things are going to get even more interesting. Bring him in, Mitch."

Alice prepared herself for the pain, fright over-taking her body. And then the knock. Who was it?
"Open up! I've got a friend of her's!" shouted another voice, "Some rich pure blood!"
She couldn't believe it! She'd gotten Maxwell involved in her problems as well. At this she really started to cry.
"He's just an acquaintance! Let him go," she begged of Travis, realizing he was in charge, "Vladmir doesn't want any trouble with the ministry, does he?"
In truth, she was just creating stories. She couldn"t believe how her wonderful night had deteriorated so quickly.

They ignored her, of course. Why would they listen to a petty little girl like her, who couldn't even pay off her debts?
Travis opened the door with a quick Alohamora. But what they saw wasn't what they were expecting. In as little as half a second, Mitch was thrown into the apartment roughly. It looked as though he'd gotten quite the work over.
"Sorry...this bastard got the drop on me." Mitch groaned pathetically. "Said he'd kill me if I didn't get him in."
A cold, wintery rage consumed Maxwell. He had known that something wasn't right, but this was worse than he'd expected. If being assaulted by that idiot wasn't enough of an indicator, the fact that two more had tried the same thing had to be.
It hadn't been too hard to defeat the men. Their spell work was piss-poor and lacking. Already, Jenkins had two of the three in custody. The other had been used to let him in the room.
"Well, what do we have here? Two grown men, assaulting a young woman in her own home?"

Alice couldn't believe it. He was alright. She fell to her knees in shock, as the four men squared off. Was she dreaming? Maxwell had come to rescue her. She didn't know what to feel, fear all too consuming.
"Maxwell," she breathed, staring at his angry face glowering at the room. He simply radiated power.

"Did they do anything to you?" he asked her, keeping his eyes on the men. "Because I'll kill them if they did."

Alice looked at Maxwell, his angered face suggesting he'd keep his word. She suddenly felt so relieved, that the brave face she'd put on faded for one of panic. She burst into tears, how much longer would she live like this?
"Fine, s-scared," she choked out in her flood of tears. She was exhausted. She didn't know how much longer she'd be able to live like this. Today she'd come so close to getting tortured and more, something that had always loomed as a threat.

Maxwell regarded her for a moment. I knew I shouldn't have left her alone in this place! "You're safe now, Alice. I promise." his sharp gaze went back to the men. "You people are disgusting! Not only did you break in and violate Alice's apartment, but I heard that little curse you were going to fire." He gripped his wand tightly. "You're lucky I stopped you when I did, otherwise all of you would be dead."
"You don't scare me, old man!" Mitch snarled, still angry about the way he'd been defeated. "That bitch owes us money, and we're going to collect it!"
Maxwell stared icily at him. "So that's what this is about. I think I understand now..."
And with that, Maxwell started his attack. Mitch went down in an instant - having already been wounded before. That just left the other two to deal with. It was quite a challenge, keeping up with two people at once.
"Crucio!"
"Avada Kedarva!"
Maxwell quickly dodged the two curses and countered with a non-verbal Blasting Curse. The curse hit one of the men and knocked them back into a wall. He took a spare moment to move the couch in front of her, so that she wouldn't be hit directly by a spell.
"Get out when you can and go for help!" He commanded. "I don't know if I'll be able to defeat them by myself."
