The next morning when Eleazar awoke- he hesitated to leave his post in front of Rosemarie's room. Unfortunately though, Eleazar had a job and he knew he had to go to work today, whether or not his sister was mentally unstable. With a longing glance at the door, he grudgingly trudged back to the Auror office.

Marigold arrived just on time the next morning, but she had nearly been late. Hey, it wasn't her fault! She hadn't been able to find Maxwell all night, and wound up partying with a few of the other aurors that survived the battle. She yawned tiredly as she headed for her office, hoping that she could just spend the day sleeping somewhere.

Chris grimaced as he saw the new file on his desk. A neighbor had flooed his office this morning with a nasty tale. He was waiting for an Auror to send with Bellard. As much as he didn't want Bellard parted from his sister, the case was too important to ignore. Finally Marigold walkes in.
"Jones! Bellard! My office, now!" he barked at the two, momentarily wondering how they'd work as a pair.

Marigold groaned inwardly. "Yes sir!" she said out loud, wishing like mad that she had stayed home.

Looking up, Eleazar inwardly sighed. Frankly, he didn't want any cases today- just a quiet day doing some paperwork and research. Sucking it up, he managed to put on foot in front of the other to head to Christopher's office.

Once the two were loaded in his office, he stared them down. He sighed heavily, and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I need you two to head to Upper Brighton Valley, an attack was reported there, and it sounds vicious. They seem to be blaming some sort of creature. I'd have not asked you two, but your here, and the only ones on duty not doing anything. Just head over there and calm the villagers and try and figure out whether it's serious or something worthless," said Chris calmly, "Now out!"
(Sorry it's quick I need to leave and didn't want you guys hanging)

(( It's okay, G! :3 ))
Marigold rushed out of McKoy's office as if the devil himself were at her heels. Sighing, she looked to her partner for today - Bellard. "Well, I'm ready to leave when you are.

Eleazar gave Christopher a curt nod before following Marigold, a bit slower. Glancing back at Jones, Eleazar sighed before replying, "And I'm ready, so lets go."

"Alright." And with that, she walked to the apparation point, wanting nothing more than to find Maxwell and cuddle with him for a while.

Following his co-worker to the apparation point, Eleazar closed his eyes and disappeared with a Pop!

Marigold quickly followed suit. "Oh hell."she murmured, when they arrived. Even from the front of the house, she could tell that something horrible had gone on.

Garrison sat at his desk, feeling self-important and proud. The attack on the Forbidden Forest had gone better than expected! While 20 wasn't the best number out there, thirty-seven creatures had been killed during the assault, making it worth while. They had managed to come out of the battle in better shape, and brought a sense of hope to the Wizarding World for the first time in a while.
He took out the sack of gold and grinned. Oh yes, being friends with Maxwell had its purposes.

Veronica had left Ivory house many hours ago to get to work. Now that she had a few spare moments in the day, she made her way to the office of the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Her heels clicked on the floor as she reached his office. Her mind was swirling with unsaid things, worries, emotions. Only one man would know how to calm her at this point. And she was now knocking on his door.

"Come in." said Susan Applewood, Octavius' middle-aged secretary.

Veronica stepped into the room with a haughty expression.
"I need to see Octavius, please tell me he's at work," said Veronica.

Susan didn't even bother to look up from her paperwork. "He left a message, saying he'd be here shorty. He said to go ahead and let you wait inside for him."

"Lazy idiot," muttered Veronica, as she left Susan to enter Octavius's office. Once inside, she took a seat and began irritably flipping through the Daily Prophet on his desk.

Octavius exited the fireplace, making sure to brush the ashes off of his shoulders. "Too damn early to work." he grumbled with a yawn. He sat down at his desk and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. Once he made himself comfortable, he noticed that Veronica was sitting in front of him, staring. "Oh, good morning."

"Good morning," said Veronica with heavy sarcasm. "Would it kill you to arrive at work early? Especially on a day when you know I would hunt you out for a discussion? And speaking of discussions, we have quite a bit to talk about today."

"No shit." Octavius agreed sourly. "Did you read the paper yet?"

"Twice already," grumbled Veronica. "Garrison's getting fat-headed, uncontrollable. I don't like where this is headed. Whoever told him as a boy that he's eloquent deserves a smack over the head. I doubt this is a one-time thing."

Octavius scowled. "I'm sick and tired of him! Anyone else would make a better Minister! He's crass, arrogant, and fickle as hell! He's always been that way!"

"And he's not even a major concern," said Veronica with annoyance. "That Alice is a suspicious character. And she's far too naive to be real, or even if she is, she's a major flaw for our group. If it weren't for her knowledge, well... And Maxwell's in no condition to deal with Garrison or Alice. Garrison had better stay in line, otherwise he'll ruin everything we've worked for!"

"I agree completely, of course. I don't like Alice at all, or how close she's gotten toward Maxwell. It isn't natural." He agreed, frowning. "He worries about her too much, and seems to have no problem holding her hand and talking with her. That isn't the man we know."

Veronica dropped her voice, "Yesterday, I invited him to interview the men who attacked her. They were saying the usual nasty things, and well, he lost control!"

Octavius paled. "Lost control? Are you sure he wasn't just punishing them?" he asked, praying that she was mistaken.

"Octavius, he lost control, he accidentally killed a man using pure magic," said Veronica, her voice low. "He had no idea what he was doing, and it was all thanks to that girl."

Octavius's eyes narrowed. "Well then, I really don't like her now. We need to keep Maxwell from getting too involved with her. The last thing we want is another Olivia."

"He won't let her go easily," said Veronica, "How was he around her last night?"

Octavius thought back to last night. "Somewhat awkward on both their parts, but they get along more than they should. From what I can tell, Alice seems to have developed a bit of hero worship toward him. As for Maxwell...I'm not sure. His behavior around her is troubling, though. He's allowing himself to get too involved."
