"Of course not," she said, a frown appearing on her face. "I'm worried about Alice. She was rather quick to agree, and all that information. I can see her usefulness, but there's still so much mystery. Maxwell never told us she was his Healer! If her knowledge is why she became a part of his views, then who are we to deny that? And if they do love each other, or become lovers, are we right to stop that?"
After her relationship with Cassie, Veronica found herself caring more about love.

"I still don't trust her completely, but it's inevitable that she be accepted to our group." Octavius allowed, his tone hard. "You didn't see what Olivia's departure did. He nearly ripped himself apart with his own magic. The only thing that stopped him was the fact that he had Brayden to raise. Not even Cassalina could calm him down." He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "The fact that Maxwell reacts to her means that he's attached the same kind if importance he placed on Olivia to Alice, so yes, love is probably the reason for his behavior. I just...I don't want it to happen again."

"But Olivia was smarter than Alice," mused Veronica, "Could we not manipulate Alice? Maxwell's happy and we can watch her and encourage her hero worship. Oh, I don't know. It's just, seeing him so torn at the funeral, he doesn't deserve that. I spent close to eight years mourning my son, never finding love. I know what he's going through, and it's rough. I don't know what's right anymore for him, Octavius. You take a call, I can't."
She sounded miserable as she said this, looking at the ceiling. Her heart was heavy, and she meant every word. It wasn't fair to Maxwell to have such a job.

"Well, it's hard to know what's best for him. Maxwell is mostly constrained, but he does have moments where something in him breaks. I think Alice has the potential to be good for him, so long as she stays the way she is now. We need to make her see how dangerous magical creatures are, while allowing her to remain as innocent as possible. But for now, her infactuation and hero-worship should be enough." Octavius hated speaking like this, as though Maxwell were a pawn to be manipulated. But himself, Cassalina and Maxwell were all that was left from his childhood, his only family. He'd protect them at any cost.

Veronica nodded, and then she leaned her head back with a loud groan.
"I should be thinking of Cassie! Not Alice! Enough about Miss Virgin. I like that name, I think I'm going to call her that from now on, Miss Virgin," said Veronica with a snort. "We have better things to worry about. Have you figured out what Olivia is up to?"

Octavius sneered at the mention of bitch-tits. "I hired one of our more skilled aurors to track her movements a few days after the funeral. From what they've gathered, it seems that Olivia is staying on Unicorn Way, in Hogsmede. I find it more than just a coincidence that this has happened, after Hogwarts seceded from the UK. My guess is that she is going to try and strike up a deal with that old fool, Sewlyn."

"Damn it!" said Veronica with a growl, "She has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Ugh, I got to get to work, now that I'm here. I'll send Cassalina the fucking address."

"I think you've rubbed off a little too much on her." Octavius said with a slight shudder, thinking about the potion. "Have a good day, Veronica."

"I should be rubbing on your sister, not at work," growled Veronica, "Have a good day! Bah!"
And with that, she stormed iut of Octavius's office.

Octavius shook his head to rid himself of the possibly scarring mental image, sat down on his chair, and sighed. Things just kept getting more and more complicated. He forced himself to turn his attention back to his work - more background checks on the Goblins.

"Alice really does love him." Octavius told Veronica, as they entered the Ministry together. "She only wants to be there for him, and to have him accept her. And though I'm a little wary, I believe that she is being honest."

Veronica stared at him, before bursting into laughter. Then realizing what he must be thinking, she calmed down, still snickering.
"I'm sorry," she said, smothering her giggles, "But the fact that she told you this makes me think of you two having some kind of girlish tea party. I believe you're probably right, but what on earth did you do in one night to get her to confess? Oh, did you give each other manicures?"
Finally calm enough to regain a level of seriousness, she met his gaze, "I'm glad though. When this is over, Maxwell deserves a bit of happiness. Though, how on earth did you realize she loves him? Is Miss Virgin even possible of realizing herself that she's attracted to someone?"

Eleazar hated it. He had to come into work for the first time since Rosemarie had fallen ill, before now he had worked off of reports and papers, but it had been high time he come in and do work. Not that he liked it. For the hundredth time, Eleazar stood up with the excuse of getting tea, though he just wanted out of the Aurors office, Quickly, he left.

Octavius rolled his eyes at Veronica's teasing. He really wasn't in the mood for it. "I suppose I had better explain from the beginning." he muttered. "It's the only way things will make sense." And so, he told her about their effort to heal Maxwell, and the long conversation they had. The poor girl had been so scared and insecure that it made him pity her. In a way, Alice reminded him of a less confident Cassalina. It wasn't nice to see, and a bit troubling to deal with.

Lacey huffed. She wanted to ignore that idiot hogwarts headmaster and burn that that hellish forest. Filled with devil spawn that tainted the earth with they foulness. Horrible, disgusting creatures the were. Maybe she'd put in a word with the minister about laws on hunting half-breeds... Cursed werewolves and vampires, seeping into their very pure community!

Veronica listened quietly, feeling the previous giddiness drain. When Octavius was done, she looked towards the Auror department. She was going to discretely find some Aurors to accompany them.
"Not even one boyfriend, when I was her age, I was pregnant," mused Veronica, "Little Miss Virgin indeed. Look, we're exacting revenge on magical creatures in the next few days, and it's best she stays away. She's not a fighter, and if-No since she's serious, I think it's best she be there for him on the side lines. She's a strange thing, one minute sounds like a tough woman, the next fragile as glass. After this is done, I'll get Cassie to talk with her. She'd probably help Alice's confidence better than you or I could."

Octavius found himself agreeing with her. "Alright. I think that would be best." He plopped down on a near by chair. "Merlin, this shite is confusing!"

Veronica snorted, "Confusing? It's love, sweetie. This is simple compared to the trysts I've had. Try explaining to a man that you've been sleeping with him and his gay wife because you love them both, when in reality the man was needed for the money, and the woman for her connections. Then we'll talk confusion. The worst was when the stupid elf creature they had tried to defend the wife by saying she was bi-curious. As if. Now, I'm going to get an Auror or two from Chris, shall you fetch Lacey?"

"You are one strange woman." Octavius said, feeling his brain hurt at trying to figure all that out. Social matters were not his strong suit! "And yes, I suppose I should go track her down. See you later."

Veronica left Octavius and moved to the Auror department, looking for someone to pick out to hire. Chris had given her free range, when she saw and Auror move past her, lookinh agitated. Curious, she called out to him.
"Hey, you there!" she called, following him.

Octavius sent a summons for Lacey from his office, as he went through a copy of the files that Marigold picked up. Dementor's Way was one massive, expansive land of cold and snow. The dementors would be everywhere, and finding them all would be a pain. Maxwell couldn't just use his fire all at once - that would melt it completely! No, the best they could do was target each one individually, and hold them off until Maxwell came to kill them with his fire. Yep, this was going to be a long day.

Eleazar looked at her in surprise. "Depends on what kind of vengeance you speak of."
---
Lacey received the message and grinned. Perhaps this would shed some light on how she could purge the wizards of their foulest companions. Quickly, the woman hurried to Octavius' Office, wondering what this was about. She knocked on the door enthusiastically... Yes! Maybe now the Half-breeds and monsters would meet their nasty, earned demise!

"Exacting a blow to the soul-suckers themself," whispered Veronica, "And helping to destroy the last colony of living Dementors. Chris said he had Aurors on stand-by. They were angry and ready to go. Are you one?"

Eleazar nodded rather quickly. He was itching to get out and fight, to avenge Rosemarie. "Of course! What must I do?

Veronica breathed a sigh of relief. She'd managed to find an Auror without dealing with Chris and shelling out several galleons. She looked around and then pulled out a slip of paper.
"Slip out of work by six o'clock, and arrive at this location for the meeting. You'll be informed there. Bring no one, and leave Chris a message to cover for you. This battle isn't sanctioned by the minister, though we suspect he may have something to do with keeping those suckers alive, I trust you can cast a Patronus?" explained Veronica quickly.

Eleazar nodded to the requirements, his mind working to try and find an excuse to leave. He also nodded to the question, "It's required at Auror training." He told her, remembering his particular ease with the spell. After all, Eleazar was normally a pretty happy fellow. "I'll be there."

"Good," said Veronica, and then with a rather nice smile, "I'll see you there. Chris should take any excuse, he's being given a nice sum of gold for turning the other cheek. I'll see you in a bit, and welcome aboard kid. What's your name?"

"Eleazar Bellard." He replied promptly, a bit relieved that Chris was payed to look the other way. He doubted that his boss would accept a bad excuse otherwise, and Eleazar was horrible with excuses.
