"Why is it that you think you can't hear them? Your a bloody tree! It should come natural in your human form" Calla spat as she turned back to Eolande.

"Eolande doesn't know." She responded, her eyes narrowing a bit as she tried to figure it out herself. "Eolande's spoken to them before, but Eolande just can't hear them anymore."

"Look done at your body!" Calla pointed out.

Eolande did as the Little Girl suggested, but only saw her normal green dress that seemed to merge with the ground, and the tail of the snake that was still nestled on her head. "Eolande doesn't understand, it's just Eolande's normal human body?"

"Clever" said Calla sarcastically. "Your in a human body, change into your blasted tree form and you'll hear the trees!"

Eolande froze up. Eolande couldn't be a tree! "Eolande can't be a tree right now- Then she'll be stuck!" Trying to sidestep away from the idea being a tree once more, she continued. "Eolande and Mamma could always understand the trees- Even in Human form!" However, in her mind, she was stuck on the idea of being a tree. When Calla brought it up, she knew why she couldn't understand the trees- She hasn't been a tree herself in so long, that she was getting tired. But, not only was exhaustion a result of not transforming- so was the loss of communication with trees...
But Eolande couldn't be a tree! Then she would be stuck and couldn't run like Mamma said. Then the Fire would come and take Eolande away like Mamma.

"Maybe it's because your Mother was an adult, she peobably had more time to learn the skill" Calla suggested. "Either way I think you need to figure it out before YEW DIES!" Calla screamed suddenly.

"L-Little Y-yew tree w-won't die... Right?" Eolande didn't like the thought, Rhea and Nyoka were both gone, and Eolande didn't know if, or when, they'd come back. Mamma was gone, and Eolande didn't want to think about what would happen if even Little Yew Tree left. "E-Eolande can't be come a tree. T-Then the Fire will come and take Eolande away. Eolande won't be able to run like Mamma said to, and Eolande will be stolen like Mamma was."

"The fire won't get you but the creatures of the forest WILL get Yew!" Calla was really starting to lose her temper now.

"B-B-But... L-Little Yew Tree is s-safe in the f-forest... b-but the F-Fire will c-come to get E-Eolande." Eolande wasn't crying, instead her eyes were wider then they'd ever been, and she had her hands balled up against her chest. The snake on her head wrapped it's tail around her arm to try and be comforting, but Eolande merely shook her shoulders, and the snake slithered away, seeing Eolande didn't want it right now.

"Why don't you stop being a brat and think about Yew! The fire was part of that battle but the creatures attacking Yew can happen at any time, possibly at this moment in time!" Calla exclaimed frustrated.

Eolande shook her head, "E-Eolande can't be a tree. Then she'll be stuck and the Fire will get her!" She raised her hands to her head, wanting to forget, wishing for Little Yew Tree to come back and be okay. Eolande didn't like it- she wanted to help Little Yew Tree, but she couldn't.

Calla had most certainly had enough of this blasted tree and so she wasn't really thinking when she walked towards Eolande and pushed her against a tree. "Turn into a bloody tree now. How do I know that your not just lying?" Calla growled out.

Eolande wasn't physically strong, so she couldn't exactly put up a fight when Calla shoved her up against the tree. She had no idea how to deal with the situation- Eolande couldn't turn into a tree, but she had to to ask about Little Yew Tree. Mean Little Girl was hurting her and trying to get her to be a tree- Did Mean Little Girl want the Fire to get Eolande? "Eolande can't be a tree!" She repeated, "Why would Eolande lie?"

Eolande flinched away from Mean Little Girl. "Eolande doesn't want to show her tree form. She can't be a tree- Mamma said she had to run! Eolande can't run if she's a tree."

"E-Eolande doesn't w-want Little Yew Tree to be taken by the Fire too." The dryad responded, moving against the tree that Calla had her up against as she tried to wiggle away. But she was so small and weak, Eolande wasn't likely to be able to escape. "B-but Eolande doesn't know what to do. She can't be a t-tree. The F-Fire will come."

Eolande cringed again. "I can't." Was all Eolande could say in a quiet tone. She couldn't be a tree! No! She'd been good, she'd listened to Mamma for three weeks now. Eolande had to be able to run, if she was good and listened to Mamma and ran from the fire, then Eolande would be safe. Eolande wouldn't be caught by the Fire.

Jovianne started, realizing her younger brother had seen everything! Everything! All her years of secrets, unravelled in one minute of passion! Mon Dieu! She moved away from Maxy, to Bastien who was staring at the two wide-eyed, and slack-jawed, as far as he knew, she was the good daughter, the one who did what her parents said! "Bastien," she began nervously, "Please, please don't tell maman and papa! They'll kill me if they find out I'm dating a werewolf!" Bastion didn't know what to say, at first. Here was his sweet, perfect sister, proving to be not so much. What happened to father's little princess? To the family's "golden child"? For years, he had thought he was the black sheep of the family! For a moment, he was both confused and proud, But hearing about their father's cowardice and disregard for creature life had quickly hardened his resolve.
"I won't." Bastion said, a feral, protective gleam in his eyes. "I'm nothing like them! If they want to live in prejudice, I'll do the same to them in kind." Then and there, he decided that he would denounce the Blytheson name. Maybe even escape pure-blood society all together. There was no sense in living with this madness. "The two of you deserve to be happy, and I refuse to ruin it over petty differences that have nothing to do with anyone but yourselves."

Jovianne could see the gleam in her brother's eye, and quickly got nervous. He wasn't going to do something stupid for her, was he? She knew he had troubles getting along with their parents, but if Bastien decided to do something silly, she'd have a hard time calming them down. "I'm sure they'll come around eventually," she cautioned, "Just don't let yourself get taken in by everything. I'm working on bringing them away from their high expectations of life." The last bit was an outright lie. Her parents were trying to suck her into their pure-bred society, but Bastien shouldn't seperate from his parents just like that!,

Bastion sighed. He knew he was being foolish, but the thought of doing nothing made him sick. "I'm just going to stay here for a while, if the forest creatures will have me." he explained evenly. "I want to show mum and dad that their behavior is wrong, or to stop supporting these anti-creature measures. If they really care about us, they'll quit this foolishness." Inwardly, he seethed at being told what to do. He was half-tempted to find a vampire or werewolf and have them turn him.

Jovianne eyed her stubborn little brother with an exasperated look. Inwardly, she was worrying what his actions would cost her. She suspected her parents would come down hard on her to make sure she, at the least, brought them some honor. However, who was she to ask Bastien to stay back with her? He was miserable as it was in their house, and she'd always protected her baby brother. Why would now be any different? "Just," she began slowly, "Remember they do love us, alright? I'm sure you'll be fine here, but remember that you do have a home to come to, or at least, my doors will always be open."

"I know they do. I still love them too, Jovi." He regarded her warmly, using his old nickname for her. "I just want to step out of their shadow, too. This whole pure-blood society is suffocating me." Bastion admitted the last part reluctantly. Already, he felt the grip of becoming future head of the family weigh down on him - women were not allowed such a title. His parents had high hopes for him, and alluded to an important bit of "training" that would take place once school let out. But for now, he supposd he could keep his family's name - just not their principles. "Why can't intelligent beings treat each other equally? Is that too much to ask?"

"Of course it isn't," said Jovianne warmly, gazing fondly at Maxy who was graciously keeping quiet, "Just look at what I fell in love with." Then she looked upon Bastien again, her gaze firm as she said, "They'll understand one day, I know they will. They're still hung up on losing face in that society, you know that. I'm sure they'll come around." She was saying this more for herself then Bastien now, as she considered what they'd do to her if they didn't. "Just, don't forget that Blythesons are more than just our parents."

"Yeah, I know." Bastion said reluctantly. Why did she always have to be right? He gave her a teasing look. "What's it like to never be wrong?"

"It's just trusting my Seer," said Jovianne brightly, "She said that if I bathed in milk during the full moon I'd receive the forgiveness of the one I wronged! She's a brilliant woman, shall I ask her to read your stars?"

"It's a very trusted art, Maxy," said Jovianne seriously, "She even let me buy a pair of aquamarines off her. Cheap too. Only a hundred galleons. She says they'll increase my chances of finding a career, once I decide what I want to do with my life."
