Eric grinned at Calla's kindness towards me. Even though he was loathe to get something for a creature as vile as a bowtruckle, if it made Calla happy, he would do that and more. "Not a problem at all my dear. Shall I bring it back here for... what was it you called the bowtruckle again? Yew?"

Yew watched Calla Flower wake. She was alright. Not interested in her Calla Flower's conversation with the strange man, she jumped down the tree, and headed towards the forest. She had to find her parents.

Alladine blushed when Henry held her hand in his own. They were strong, firm hands, and yet ever-so-gentle. As he explained his perspective, Alladine started to feel more and more foolish. Of course things would be taken care of? Why was she questioning Sewlyn, when he was only trying to do the right thing? "I'm sorry." she whispered. "I was just worried."
Sewlyn gave Henry a grateful nod. "There is no need to be! We'll be able to hold our own! Two hundred years ago, Hogwarts became a battle ground for Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort! If we have to fight again, we will! Are we in agreement?"

"Of course we are," said Henry as though it was a taken for granted thing. "Alladine, let me escort you to your room, it's near the Owlery, am I wrong? I don't want you getting ill. It's best if you get some rest. Headmaster, shall we meet in the morning to go over the finer details?"

Sewlyn nodded his agreement. "Take good care of her, Henry. All of us need to be at our best."
Alladine smiled. He's such a kind man. she thought, allowing him to escort her. And rather handsome, too... She almost giggled, but managed to control herself.

Henry's mind was quick at work. He was lucky Selwyn was such a foolish trusting man. He'd send word to Maxwell tonight, and make sure to have all the plans filled out. He smiled at Selwyn sincerely, flashing his white teeth.
"I'll treat her like a Queen," he promised, winking at Alladine and effectively cutting the tension, "Shall we go, my Lady?"

Turi watched as Henry took care of Alladine's worries. He turned to the headmaster as the two began their way to Alladine's quarters.
"Sir, Do we have any way to fund the school outside of unreliable donations?"

Sewlyn smiled benignly. "Yes, we do. I do not come from wealth itself, but there are several artifacts in my home that I can pawn off. Not only that, but we do have a small amount of money that comes to us outside of the Ministry - the Historical Society values this building due to it's rich history. I have connections to some of the people who work there, and they have donated to us in the past..." he trailed off, feeling a bit more hopeful than he had before. "And I have a few family heirlooms that are from the middle ages. I'm sure they'd fetch a lovely price."

This did not fare well with Turi, "Sir! You can't possibly sell your family heirlooms! Surely we should be able to find other ways...?" As an ancient runes professor, Turi put much pride in his own few family heirlooms, and he couldn't imagine selling them. It didn't make him happy to think of the Headmaster doing such a think either.

"How are you feeling Alladine? Today must have been stressful on you," said Henry politely to make conversation.
Inside, he was already planning the details to include in the letter to Maxwell. He was going to make sure that not a single account was unknown. He just needed to find a person to point the blame at when it came out.

"I'm rather well, Henry. Just a bit tired." she replied, flattered that he'd be so concerned over her well-being. "It's been a long day for all of us, and I imagine that my students will be distraught over these events. How about you?"

"Truthfully, I'm worried. The students are so young, they don't deserve to have war at their doorstep. I can only pray to Merlin that they won't be scarred. Tomorrow I shall check the dorms, make sure the students understand how wrong this war is. No innocent life should be spilled," he said with a sigh at the end, and a mournful look at Alladine.

"I'll be sure to do my part as well." Alladine replied, frowning. "I don't have much myself, but I'll contribute my fair share."

"I'm sure you will," he said with a delicious smile, bringing his face close to hers. "Good night, Alladine."
They had reached her rooms, and Henry was eager to get his message sent. He smiled directly into her eyes, knowing his charm would leave her momentarily stunned, and then left to handle his own business.

Sewlyn had spent a good deal of the morning explaining the situation in the Great Hall. This sent the school into chaos - there were students who had opinions on both sides, of course. It was a nasty ordeal that led to many fights and complaints, which had taken hours to clear up.
Once things were settled, he went to his office and took a seat at his desk. Already, he was feeling drained, and there was still so much to do...

Fawkes flew to where the wards of Hogwrats began. There, he hesitated. He didn't want to cross- it might raise an alarm. After a breif moment of though, he decided to take a much more direct path. Besides, he's always been one for theatrical entrances... In a burst of light, Fawkes disappeared and reappeared in another corresponding burst of flames in the Headmaster office. There, he let himself drop two feet onto the back of a chair, where he perched.

Sewlyn gaped at the fiery bird. What was a phoenix doing here? Before he could ask, one of the portraits said,
"Hello, Fawkes. It is good to see you again."

Fawkes glanced up toward the voice and was delighted to see his old master. He bowed in greeting,
"As it is you, Albus." Then he looked at Sewlyn, "And I suppose that you are the current headmaster of Hogwarts?"

Fawkes? Sewlyn thought, dumbfounded. Impossible! And yet, Albus Dumbledore's painting had greeted the bird as an old friend. But there was another, more confusing question that bothered him so. "Wait, how can I understand what you're saying? I thought phoenixes couldn't talk?"
"It is because you are the Headmaster, Sewlyn." Albus said, his blue eyes twinkling. "There is a special enchantment on this room, which allows someone in your position to understand any language - man or creature - that you would need to speak with. It has been here for quite some time."
Sewlyn nodded. This made just as much sense as anything else in the castle so far. He then turned to Fawkes, even more impressed than he was a few moments ago. "Yes, I'm the current headmaster. What brings you here once more?"

Fawkes hesitated for a moment, unsure as to how to phrase the matter. Finally, he began, "I'm fairly certain that you were aware of the battle that happened yesterday at the Forbidden Forest. My reason for being here today is that I felt Hogwarts was being threatened, and that it called for my return. I wish to know how Hogwarts plans to react to this war, and if it is going to be getting involved at all. After all, my duty is to protect that school and if it were to go into battle, I am bond to fight for it's, and the students, safety."

"We are not pleased with the way things have turned out." Sewlyn replied gravely. "I warned the Minister not to attack the forest, and he agreed. He lied, however, and sent them without a second thought! Because of this, We are going to secede from the Ministry's control, and offer any support we can to the forest and its creatures. It won't be easy, but we'll manage."

Fawkes nodded his approval of such a plan. He did not appreciate a Minister who lied about such an enormous situation- nor did he trust such a Minister to have any power over the school. "I must say I'd do pretty much the same thing in a similar situation." Then, with a glance toward his master's painting he continued strongly, "And I'd like to let you know that my first and only item on my agenda is the safety of this school, so if there ever be an attack against it, I will defend it. Even against my own kind if need be." He tacked on the last part for two reasons, first to gain the trust of this headmaster. Also because his thought strayed toward the goblin from earlier, who had seemed so keen to attack the school.

"I wouldn't expect anything less of you, old friend." Albus said warmly, eyes still twinkling.
Sewlyn considered the bird for a moment, and felt his spirits soar. Phoenixes only gravitated toward people who were of the light, or at least tried to hold its ideals. This only proved that what he was doing was right! "Thank you, Fawkes. I appreciate your support. May I ask how the forest is dealing with what has happened to them?"

Fawkes cast a look toward the forest, considering the question. "They've lost many in the attack," He began gravely, "And they certainly aren't exactly bursting with a want to protect humans, and a few wish too attack. One even tried to convince the leader to attack the school first- apparently, the school is a good target." Fawkes glared at nothing in particular, making it clear how much he dislike that one. "Fortunately, the leader and majority of the forest creatures reject the idea of harming any human who is not involved in harming them directly. Most of their ill feeling are directed toward only the Ministry and it's supporter's at the moment. In fact, I'm sure they will be only pleased with the school to hear that it has cut off from the Ministry."

Sewlyn was surprised to hear that one of the creatures would want to attack the school, but relieved to know that the idea had been rejected. "In that case, I would like to make an alliance between us. Though it'll have to wait until things have settled on our end. Would it be possible for you to tell us what this leader of yours is like?"
|
|
|

"Yes, Yes," Fawkes trilled in agreement to the possibility of an alliance, but to the question he hesitated. "With all due respect, Headmaster, I feel I've said too much about the Forest and it's inhabitants at this time. Perhaps we should wait until, as you say, have things settled on your end. Once the Ministry is officially and completely no longer connected to the school, I'd be glad to speak to you about the forest." The phoenix quickly added, "Though I will tell you this- the leader of the forest is a reasonable person, who I imagine would be receptacle to the idea of an alliance."

Sewlyn nodded. It would have to do for now. "Understandable, Fawkes. I wouldn't want to impose on you, after all. When the tensions die down, I would like to speak with you again."
"Thank you for coming back, Fawkes." Albus said, eyes no longer twinkling. "I wish you and your comrades the best of luck."

Fawkes bowed his head to both headmasters, and decided that he should probably be getting back to the forest and see if he was needed anywhere. Or at least, he planned to take a nice long nap.
"When you are ready to speak to me once more, call for me and Hogwarts will send for me." With that, he flashed out of the room. After all, he enjoyed theatrical exits too.

Henry made his way up towards Selwyn's office. It wasn't everyday you needed to get information from the old fool. Of course, he knew the many deaths may not entice his allies to the information he collected, but it was better to be well-prepared for anything.
"Headmaster," he called as he knocked, "May I have a word?"
