"Is red or white alright? I don't want anything overly complicated," she explained. "And both are colors associated with healing, white moreso."
As she said this, she found herself flipping through thenracks to occupy her hands, which were unsteady from the excitement.

"Both colors are just fine." She said, pleased at how quickly she understood. "I think I'll leave you to your choices. Maxwell's clothes should have arrived by now..." And with that, she walked off, confident that she had laid the foundations needed for the upcoming days.

Alice sighed in relief. She once again held the stick in her hand. She'd need to get a chain to sling it on.
With a happy smile, she returned to where Maxwell was.
"Are you trying robes on now?" she asked him, popping up behind him cheerfully.

Maxwell sighed. "Unfortunately. Care to give me a personal opinion? I don't trust the salesladies to be impartial."

"Ah, of course," said Alice, "It's only fair."
With that, she smiled as she took a seat.
"I'm ready when you are."

Sighing, Maxwell went into the dressing room, where his clothes were waiting for him. Luckily he only had a couple he needed to try on - he knew which ones he liked and didn't like.
The first thing he put on was a grand, silver and forest green robe. He knew this was rather asinine, but since she'd modeled for him, it was only fair. Geeze...Cassalina really needed to get a new hobby!

Alice waited patiently as Maxwell changed. She found herself staring at the store, and then at the stick in her hand. Everything felt so strange. Where had her life gone in the last week? She couldn't keep up with the strange change.
She watched Maxwell appear. He looked grand. The forest green complimented his hair and skin well, and the silver added a burst of something. It seemed to suggest he was in power, that he had control. He looked extremely handsome at the same time.
"That looks wonderful, it's very, imposing, and powerful looking. The green brings out your skin," said Alice with a smile.

"And here I thought I was going for ugly and boorish." Maxwell teased playfully. "Oh well. This will have to do." Inwardly, he was delighted that she looked at him that way. As the one who would guide and support her from afar, it was only right.
He went back into the dressing room, and put on the one that he wasn't sure about. It was the newest fashion from Japan - a dress robe that almost looked like a kimono. The colors were solid black and shimmering gold, done in the most grand and complex of designs. There was no creature print on it, of course - he would have burned the offending image if was there.
He walked out, wondering what Alice would think of it.

When Maxwell came out in the black and gold, Alice was sipping a cup of tea. She was both taken aback and shocked at Maxwell's new robe. It looked fierce, and he seemed to look so regal. The gold design seemed to move fluidly with him. She put down her cup of tea and looked up at him in awe.
"That looks amazing!" she said in awe, "You look like some kind of king!"
Then realizing what she'd said, "I-I mean, it's nice."
She was blushing profusely at her stutters and impudence.

Maxwell felt a light blush creep on his face. "Really?" he asked, even more pleased than before. "Well, if you think so, than I think this one is a keeper." He looked at his watch. "Cassalina should be finishing with her own selections soon. Afterwords, why don't we go out to eat? Is there anywhere you'd want to go?"

"Ah, I'm not fussy. I've never been in this neighborhood, so it's really your choice. I chose the last time you took me out, why don't you pick this time?" suggested Alice, as she got up.

Maxwell smiled. "Very well. I think that, in dealing with all this elegance, we need to eat somewhere simple. How about Flortescue's Ice Cream Parlor? I've never taken the time to go there myself."

"It's lovely," beamed Alice, "I'll wait by the door for you and Cassie. I'm sure you'll enjoy the place."
With that, Alice got up and moved to the doors, which were by the main counter. She couldn't wait for lunch now.

It didn't take Cassalina long to pick out her clothes - she knew exactly what suited her and what didn't. She had chosen a total of six new dress robes, and picked out Octavius and Veronica's funeral robes - Veronica needed to wear something with a modicum of tastefulness, and Octavius had ruined his last robes by wrestling with Xanos Lovegood. She sighed. Why did her brother always have to ruin his finer clothes?
She sauntered up to the counter and put all of their expenses on Maxwell's tab - he had insisted he do so.
"Than you for your purchases, Ms. Yaxley! As always, we appreciate your patronage."
"You're welcome." she replied pleasantly. She then turned to Maxwell and Alice. "So, where to?"
"We're going to the Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor." Maxwell said, looking calmer than he had before - and wearing the kimono-style robes Cassalina had picked out for him. "I'm in the mood for something...simple."
Cassalina chuckled at the mental image of him walking into that place, wearing such finery. Oh the stares he'd get! "Sounds good to me."

((Time Skip )
They arrived in front of Flortescue's shortly. Alice was amazed at the sheer enormity of the store again. Two floors tall, and almost twice the size of the boutique, it screamed joy. Children were running between their mother's feet, and dogs and cats seemed to play. The outdoor tables were set up, and waiters and waitresses dashed around. Large magical plants were erected around the fenced forefront of the parlor, and gave the place a sort of quaint charm. A young couple was laughing as they shared an ice-cream. Everything here looked so ordinary.
"Shall we get a seat then?" asked Alice pleasantly at the group as they walked inside.
Everywhere people seemed to be glancing curiously at their group. A few gossips would begin in hushed whispers, and one man was even pointing at them. Alice could easily see that Maxwell created a stir where he went. And who were they to blame? He looked so regal and impressive in those robes he was wearing. She couldn't help but sneak peeks at him too.

Maxwell paid the people no attention - their opinions didn't matter to him at the moment. He supposed he was dressed far too nicely for this place, but what did it matter? For once, he felt like being important and open. A part of him couldn't deny that he was pleased with Alice's own looks at him. He did have to admit it was nice to see so many children around with their parents. Nice, and a bit saddening. Would Brayden have liked to come here?
"I think a booth near a window would be nice." He said lightly, pushing back his feelings for another time. "After you, ladies."

"I've never been here before," said Alice as they headed to a booth. It was a self-seating area after all. "My parents would always promise, but their work and double lives were so time-consuming that we never got a chance. I'm glad we came here today! I've always wanted to come here, and I couldn't ask for better company. After you."
She nodded to the booth politely offering the two a chance to sit first. Then she suddenly felt conflicted, who was she to sit beside?

Cassalina, seeing Alice's little problem, decided to pull a Veronica. "I'm simply worn out from all that shopping." she said, sitting at the side of the booth, so that her legs blocked Alice from sitting. "I think I'm going put my feet up for a while. You two will have to share."
Maxwell stared at her a moment before saying, "Given that you probably ran around the whole store, I imagine you would be." he scooted over, so that Alice could sit with him. "I suppose it's only fair that we give you the chance to rest."

"How do you know what looks good on everyone, it's amazing really," said Alice, sitting beside Maxwell with relief. "Do you shop for everyone?"
As they settled into the booth, Alice noticed the waiter grabbing some menues. A waitress was arguing with him and glancing at Maxwell. Something about the waiter seemed oddly familiar to Alice, she just couldn't place him.

"Oh, I wouldn't say that." Cassalina said brightly. "It's just something I picked up from my mother. She used to pick out Octavius's, my father's and even my own."
Maxwell gave her a sympathetic glance. It seemed that all of them understood what it meant to watch their families crumble apart. Octavius and Cassalina only had each other, while both he and Alice seemed to be alone in the world. As he saw it, fate brought them together, all of them.

Alice couldn't help but pick up on the used in that sentence. So Cassalina, like herseld, was alone and orphaned. She couldn't help but me sympathetic. She wondered if it was meant to be that she was dragged to this group of people. It seemed so unnaturally calming how easily they fit together.
"It's strange what we pick up from our parents," said Alice confidently.
Before she could expand however, the waiter showed up. Alice looked up, and immediately recognition lit her face. It was Johnny Rand, the Keeper for the Hufflepuff team that was a year above her. She couldn't help but be surprised to see him here.
"Alice? Alice Boot?" he asked in surprise upon seeing her.
"Johnny, right?" she asked in surprise. He had grown up well. His big ears now suited his square jawline and rough and tumble look. He had dirty-blonde hair and blue eyes that sparkled like a kid. He'd always been popular back in school, and a bit of a player and had always been poor in school.
"Whoa! What are you doing here? Last I heard you disappeared off the face of the Earth!" he said excitedly.
"No, I just work for the ministry, what about you? I thought you wanted to go into Quidditch," she said in surprise.
"Yeah, yeah I did, but I had a few setbacks when I injured my ankle, and since you weren'r around to kiss it all better, I've been slowed down," he teased.
"Please, the Nurse did all the work, I just watched her and handed her the bandages," said Alice with a blush. She had forgotten Johnny's incessant flirting.
"Man, it's been a while, so, what can I get you?" he asked with a flirty wink. ((I want to give a look at Alice's school life and annoy Maxwell a bit))

Maxwell considered their waiter. He had a strong, athletic look about him, and from the way he spoke casually with Alice, the two seemed to know each other from school. Was this a friend of her's, or perhaps, an old flame? The last notion irked him a little, but he brushed it aside. He had an image to uphold, after all.
"A friend of yours, Alice?" Cassalina asked politely.

"Ah! I'm so sorry, this is Johnny! He was a year above me in school, and he played Keeper for the Hufflepuff team. When I was assisting the nurse, he was one of my frequent patients. Johnny, this is Ms. Cassie. She'd a friend and currently my land-lady as well. And this is Maxwell, he's both my friend and employer," explained Alice as she introduced everyone.
"Pleasure to meet all of you, it's nice knowing that little old Alice has some pleasant people keeping an eye for her. And you've become pretty out-spoken. Back in school she was this shy little thing who looked terrified of her own shadow," said Johnny with a grin at Alice again.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Johnny." Maxwell said in a firm, yet polite tone. "I was a Keeper myself, though I played for Slytherin." There was something off-putting about meeting this man, but he couldn't place the strange feeling, so he ignored it. It wasn't like he'd expected Alice not to have any friends, after all.
"Any friend of Alice's is a friend of mine." Cassalina said pleasantly. "Especially one who knows her so well."

"So do you guys want some space to decide what to grab?" he asked, before turning to Alice, "So did anything ever happen with Jamie and Connor, they were both in your year, and every time I asked Jamie out she told me no."
"I think they had a brief relationship towards the end of my year, but I never kept in touch. Jamie never got on with anyone much," said Alice, "And some time would be lovely."
"I'll be back in a few minutes then," said Johnny pleasantly, "I can't part with your good looks too long Alice dear, or that of your lovely land-lady."
And with that he was gone.

"What shall we do tonight, mon amour?" Daniel asked sweetly, as he sat three plates out for lunch.
Olivia considered his question for a moment, before answering. "I would like to go see a play, if that is alright. I could use a night out on the town."
"I think we both could." he agreed, setting a tray of his special crepes out. "We've hardly had the time to enjoy ourselves lately. I'll find us something to enjoy." he kissed her on the cheek. "You just spend today resting and relaxing."
Oliva couldn't help but grin. He always treated her so well. "Thank you, love."
"You're welcome, my sweet."
----
Maxwell felt a vein on his forehead throb, as he watched Johnny leave. It bothered him, seeing how casual they were with each other, where as Alice was still being far too formal with him.
"He seems like an interesting person." Maxwell said, as he looked at his menu.
"I'd say." Cassalina agreed serenely. "Sounds like you had quite the group of friends back in school, Alice. Can you tell us more about them?"

During my foray into the forest I'd heard the news that my Godbrother had died, I may not have cared for him at all but I felt that it was only right that my Godmum knew. So I travelled to her home in Paris in order to pass the news onto her. How on earth am I meant to do this?
Either way I sent her a Patronus to announce my presence. Knowing her like I do, she'll be *entertaining* a guest.

"Ah, I never had close friends, but I did have a large selection of friends. In Hufflepuff everyone is friends with each other. I used to help the Nurse out, so I knew most of the Quidditch players," explained Alice. "Johnny was one of the frequent visitors. He's a flirt like anything, but he's ultimately quite sweet. It was hard making friends when my parents were against keeping anyone close. They didn't want to have their secret exposed, I guess."

Olivia smiled at her husband. Every day, she still marveled at how she'd managed to snag such an attractive, perfect man and keep him for so long. With his smooth, black hair and soft, gray eyes. And that body! Who else could have such a godly physique, and still be so loving and gentle? She giggled sheepishly as they played footsie under the table.
They talked about nonsensical things for a time, simply enjoying the chance to talk with each other. Little did they know that their peace would not last.
A large wolf Patronus came out of nowhere, announcing the arrival of her godson. Well, at least they had set out an extra plate - random people always came through their doors at the strangest moments.
---
They both listened with interest, though Cassalina could tell that Maxwell was a little bothered by the man. She stopped herself from chuckling at the sight, but it was a near thing. Did Maxwell fancy the girl? She couldn't help but think how adorable that was! At the mention of her parents, both Cassalina and Maxwell's expressions soured.
"It's such a shame it had to be that way." Maxwell said softly. "It must have been lonely, not having anyone to keep close to you."

"A little, but I finally found myself some rather nice people," said Alice with a warm smile at the two. Before they could reply however, Johnny returned.
"So, what can I get you sweethearts? You always had a fondness for citrusy stuff, right Alice? And tea. Why don't you get the honey lemon tea?" suggested Johnny kindly.
"Ah sure, I'm not to sure what I'll have yet, do you guys know yet?" asked Alice.
