"Well somone had too, father and sister don't gives a rats ass about her. I owe her so much for causing this, its the least I could do." Deirdre replied as she raised a hand to her forehead. "Besides, between the two of us, I have the better end of the deal, so I better be greatful."

Lucinda beamed. "I agree! Rhea's such a wonderful person! I'm truly happy that she's my friend. I'd be lost without her.

Deirdre nodded in agreement, "Amongst all my wrongs, I must have done something right." She said, glancing back at the door, from which came the low moans and groans of the wolf harming itself. Sighing, she looked up at Lucinda once more and asked, "Please, just, watch out for her. I've taken care of her too long and hidden her condition too well for her to die now."

Lucinda nodded. "I will protect her, ma'm. No matter what."

Deirdre eyed the bird for a moment. Could she trust Lucinda with her daughter? "I'd come myself to the battlefield, but I was always a lousy fighter. Probably just get in the way, to be honest. That's one thing Rhea got from her father- Skill with the wand. Heavens knows she didn't get it from me."

"What you lack in skill, you make up for in heart." Lucinda said honestly, perching on her shoulder. "Even as she battles, I'm sure she will be thinking of you as well."

"I sure hope not," Deirdre replied, thankful that the bird wasn't angry at her horrible treatment at first. Huh. Maybe that was a re-occurance, Deirdre was always rude to those that she shouldn't be. "I'd rather she be thinking about how to best get out of the situation. Say, what's it like on the island anyway?"

"It isn't a good place." Lucinda said honestly. "The land is frigid, cold and barren."

Deirdre pursed her lips, "So, not a very pleasant place, I'm guessing." The only time Deirdre particularly liked winter, was those snowy days when Rhea and Jericho would go out and play, giggling as they threw snow balls and caught little snowflakes on their tongues.

"No, it isn't. But this is something we have to do. Lucinda said firmly.

"I know, I know." Deirdre smiled, "You sound so much like Rhea, you know." She glanced into the kitchen at the time, still a couple of hours to go.

Lucinda beamed. "Well, if I have to be like anyone, I couldn't think of anyone better!" Rhea's mother was truly a wonderful woman. It was good to know that Rhea had someone who truly cared about her. Especially in this day and age, when everyone seemed to be given nothing but hatred. "Thank you for taking care of her, and making her the person she is today."

Deirdre waves her hand dismissively. "I'm not sure I made her this way, to be honest. She's practically the opposite of her brother, Jericho. I raised them both the same, and Jericho is the most friendly, active and loud boy you could meet. Rhea's more reserved and quiet... or at least she was. Actually, I think she's changed quite a bit from the girl I raised in the past few weeks."

"She's far more confident than she was coming to the forest." Lucinda agreed, thinking back to the shy woman she had met starting out. Things just seemed to change so fast...

"I can see why." Deirdre replied, "After all you told me happened... Well, a girl has to get more confidence after all that. Helping that little girl would have helped Rhea a lot, Rhea always wanted children."

Lucinda tilted her head questioningly. "She does?" But then again, she could understand why, given the way Rhea handled Eolande. She had a very good way of dealing with young ones.

"Yes, Well... She did anyway. When my family was still all together, she and Alexis were the best of friends. They would play the normal games- House being their favorite. And even though Rhea was younger, she was always the mother. When she no longer had Alexis, Rhea would baby her dolls and have fun carrying them around the house. Just like any little girl, but she was particularly careful.... But when she was twelve, she swore never to have a child, she's scared that the baby would get harmed during transformation or would have the Werewolf gene." Deirdre sighed, she had looked for answers for Rhea's sake, but couldn't find any cases of werewolf females having babies. As far as written record were concerned, it had never happened. At least, not as far as Deirdre knew.

"No wonder she took so well to Eolande, then." Lucinda replied sadly. Poor Rhea, never being able to live up to her dream! It was a pain Lucinda understood all too well. "Whenever I see them, it almost feels like they're actually mother and daughter."

"I can imagine." Deirdre said, smiling. Then she groaned. "But I'm too young to be a grandmother, not yet!"
