Deirdre nodded, biting her lip as she realized she'd have little more then an hour with her daughter. And most of that would be healing whatever injuries Rhea had by the end of the night in the morning. "Alright." She answered, her voice still cold when speaking to the bird. Deirdre was going to be worrying all day every day that her daughter was never going to come back, just because that horrible bird had to take Rhea into the fight. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

Lucinda tilted her head. "Your support shall be plenty, Ms. Along with tending to Rhea. And of course, my tears are handy if need be." She looked to Rhea, worried. "I'll be right here for you. Just in case."

Turning back to the window, Deirdre noticed that the moon was beginning to rise- a sliver was visible over the horizon. She turned to Rhea, who was still looking around the room for something as she sipped the water. "The moons rising, you should go." Rhea quickly glanced out the window, paled a few shades and nodded as she disappeared out of the room, calling back.
"Don't forget to lock it!" Deirdre nodded and quickly followed her daughter to the cellar in the basement, prepared to lock is as tight as she could.

Lucinda watched them sadly, wishing she could do something more for them, especially Rhea. Why did everything have to be so hard?

After Rhea was in, the cellar was closed and locked, both magically and in muggle fashion. Deirdre stood and watched the door of the cellar until, suddenly, something large pounded against the cellar with a loud snarl. The mother flinched before hurrying back to the kitchen, trying to ignore the werewolf's vicious growls as it tried to break open the door and escape.

Lucinda flinched. She could practically sense the vicious wolf that thrashed against the door. Poor, poor Rhea. She couldn't imagine the agony that Rhea was going through, or the way it felt to lose out to a darker side. She waited for Rhea's mum to return, trilling a song to keep from panicking.

Once Deirdre was in the kitchen, she pull out a chair and sat down, cringing every time the wolf made a noise. She knew how this worked, the Wolf would ruthlessly try to escape for a while before realizing it was useless. Then it would try whining like an injured puppy asking for help. After she listened to the wolf for a few minutes, Deirdre abruptly turned to the bird and asked, "So what has she been doing these past few weeks, hiding in that forest?"

"Your daughter is an amazing woman." Lucinda sang warmly. "We've been through a lot in the time she's been at the forest. I've never met anyone quite like her." She then proceeded to tell Rhea about everything from the forest battle, to their current situation - without delving into anything too personal. "I know you're angry with me for taking her, but please know that I never meant her any harm. I was trying to keep her safe. As I would any magical creature."

Deirdre hung onto every word the bird sang, trying to ignore the Wolf. Her eyes narrowed when Lucinda mentioned the spider, the battle made her bite her lip in worry. The little girl that Lucinda said Rhea was watching made Deirdre's eyes fill with sadness. She knew how keen Rhea was to the idea of having children, something she would never let herself have. Once the bird had finished, she nodded slowly.
"As long as she's safe, or as safe as she could be... Thank you for telling me all this... And for watching her."

Lucinda nodded. I would die for her, if need be. Lucinda answered, surprised by the conviction behind her choice of words. She's a very dear person to me, though I know I don't deserve it. It's the least I can do. Just know that I didn't steal her away because I wanted to.

Deirdre listened to the bird's word, surprised at the sincerity she found. After watching Lucinda for a moment, she nodded and looked back toward the cellar. "I believe you." She hesitated before continuing softly, "She doesn't deserve this. I should be the one down there right now... But no, that monster decided my daughter was a better target." Her voice was bitter as she glared at the air, hatred toward Rhea's creator evident.

Lucinda's eyes narrowed. Nobody deserves anything like that, Ms. Ollivander.

Looking back at the bird, Deirdre continued, "It would be one thing if it had been a total accident, if Rhea had just been in the wrong place in the wrong time. But it was planned, I met a werewolf and freaked out, and the werewolf didn't take it very well. Decided to show me what it was like to be cursed by cursing my little girl." She didn't know why she was telling Lucinda all of this, but she felt that she needed someone to know... know something. "Her father wanted to let her die, said a she was now a werewolf and we should just kill her."

A surge of anger flowed through Lucinda at the mere thought of Rhea dying, let alone for such a small matter. "Well that doesn't make him right!" she sang furiously. "Maybe I should curse him and see how he likes it!" She looked to Rhea's mother and her expression softened. "That doesn't make it your fault, either. You couldn't have known what the wolf would do."

"He'd deserve it." Deirdre agreed full heartedly, and she would have attacked that beast long ago if she didn't have a daughter she needed to attend to. "But, I should have known better. Blinded by the public mask put upon werewolves, I was stupidly prejudice. I shouldn't have been so stupid and been so rude."

Lucinda silently agreed with that, though she didn't think it was fair to condemn her for it. Anyone could see that she'd suffered enough. "We're all blind at some point." the phoenix answered sadly. "All living creatures are ignorant starting out. And this movement isn't helping. I've seen, and experienced man kind's erring path. This war, this uprising, is an attempt to stop it. That is what I fight for, and seems to be Rhea's reason, as well."

Deirdre nodded sadly, still angry at her own blindness. She couldn't think of how to reply, and she didn't have to. The Wolf beneath them finally stopped growling and snarling. It was changing tactics, and it's vicious tone changed to something much more... sad. It whined and seemed to be whispering, begging to be let out. It sounded to hurt, injured and lost- Deirdre wanted to help it. She shook herself violently, she couldn't fall for the wolf's tricks.
---
While Deirdre couldn't understand the wolf, a Phoenix would be able to understand the magical creature. Before, it had been wordless snarls, But now, it spoke softly as it whined. "Please help me, I'm lost. It's cold and dark and I'm scared. Please let me out." There was a soft, weak scratch at the floor, as if it was begging. "Please help me. Please, it's scary."

At once, Lucinda felt the tug of her vow, as she heard the wolf's pleading. She knew that wolves were dangerous, especially to humans, but it was tugging really, really hard. The wolf was either genuinely scared, or a brilliant actor. She looked to Rhea's mother. Hide somewhere! she sang in warning. I can't explain it now, but my vow is pulling me to help the wolf. Hide, run, get out of here! And that was all the warning she gave, before flashing to the wolf's side.

When Lucinda appeared in the cellar, the Wolf immediately quite whining. Instead, it gave a wolfish grin and tried to attack. It snarled and growled as it tried to catch the bird, Finally! The wolf would have some prey.
---
As the bird left, Deirdre jumped up. What was that about? She was about to follow the bird's words, when she heard the snarling start up. That was odd, usually the wolf reverted to biting itself after whining proved futile.... Wait... What if? Horrorstruck with the idea of the bird falling to the wolf's act, she threw open the door that led to the basement and glanced at the cellar door. She was unsure what to do, so she just stood there, half ready to flee and half ready to fight.

Lucinda found herself in a nasty position. On the one hand, she couldn't directly attack Rhea, even if she was in wolf form. The thought was unbearable. But at the same time, the wolf would just lure her back, and she couldn't risk breaking her vow and turning into a chick. All she could think to do was make a barrier and sing at Rhea. Hopefully, Rhea's mother listened to her - if the wolf knocked Lucinda out, Rhea's mother would be in dire straights.
Rhea, listen to me! You don't want to do this! she sang, half-panicked, half-angry with herself.

The wolf couldn't break the barrier, not yet. It clawed at it, and tried to break through with brute force. "Hungry!" It snarled, not even close to the soft whine from before. "Trapped!" Lucinda's song didn't help much, Rhea was far beneath the surface of the Wolf. Somewhere, that Rhea was panicking and screaming at the wolf to stop, but since when did the Wolf listen to the girl?

Lucinda tried to fly above the wolf, occasionally moving to try and keep it distracted. Well, this is a fine mess I've gotten myself in! she thought angrily. It was times like this that she really loathed the vow she made! The cellar was hard to fly around, and she occasionally crashed into things. Out of nowhere, it seemed, a bookcase put itself in front of her. With a cry, she crashed into it and momentarily landed on the ground.

The wolf was about to continue it's pursuit of the bird, when it caught a different scent. It was closer and more clear- Human! Excited, the beast turned toward the now open cellar door, to see a woman with her wand out. Enjoying the delicious scent the human brought, the Wolf ran forward to attack the woman.
---
Deirdre had waited, not wanting to leave her daughter's friend. She's been unsure, but made up her mind once she heard the clatter of something falling. Immediately she jumped forward and undid all the locks, opening the cellar door with sleeping spells in mind. When the Wolf jumped forward to attack almost instantly she stumbled back and her spell hit the beast, but wasn't strong enough to do more then push the werewolf back about an inch.

Lucinda cried out in horror. NO! RHEA! FIGHT IT! she screeched as loud as she could, getting up. She flew at the wolf. NO! BACK!

Deirdre proceeded to back up, shooting another calming spell at the wolf as she went. Maybe she should have taken the Phoenix's earlier orders and left.
---
Perhaps it was a mixture of the bird flying at her and the human's spell. But when the wolf turned to attack the phoenix that approached it, something tugged at it to stop. Surprised, the beast fell down to it's four paws and shook it's head violently. It wanted to attack and kill the bird, hunt down the human for food. But something stopped it, don't attack the bird. Confused, the wolf crouched low to the ground and whined wordlessly, wanting to attack but being unable.

Lucinda flew past Rhea and to her mother. "We need to get away from her for now." Lucinda cursed herself inwardly, wishing that her vow would stop making her do things that put her - and others - in harm's way.

Deirdre nodded, turning to dash back up the stairs. "Let's just lock the basement. It's not built to regularly hold a werewolf, but it can manage for the nigh with a few spells." As she spoke, she slammed the door to the basement shut and proceeded to whisper spells in order to secure it.

Lucinda added a stronger barrier as an extra precaution. "I'm so sorry about that! Are you alright?" she asked, once the doors were secured.

When the shields were up, Deirdre leaned up against the door. "No worries," She said in an exhausted tone. "I should have warned you that the wolf likes to pretend and draw people in. I fell for it the first time I heard it, and another time awhile after that. It's pure luck that I didn't die, or get infected, then."
---
As the bird and human left, the Wolf slowly regained control and was no longer forced to stay in such a weak position. Slowly it rose, snarling once more. But the prey was gone, and it was hungry. The need to bite was over powering, so it craned it's neck and bit down hard on it's shoulder, letting out a groan of pain as it did so.

Lucinda regarded her kindly. "You're a good woman, putting up with all that to take care of her. So many people today just don't care."
