Shouldn't Ron be the one most happy about Harry/Ginny? It seemed to be hinted at the end of OotP that he was hoping they'd get together. Of course that seemed to be forgotten in HBP, with Ron only seeming to grudgingly accept it then...

Better with Harry since Ron would probably figure that Harry would take care of her and Ron trusts Harry.

Agreed. And besides, HBP did nothing good for most of the characters.

That's the book that made me feel sorry for Draco though and start looking at him as more than just a spoilt, evil little git.

I hate Harry's characterization in that book more than any of the other books. 5th book is 2nd though

Okay, I take that back. It developed Draco's character, but nobody else.

XD Sure, sure. If you want to look at things like that. Hehe.
I don't like when people make Snape's hair "shiny and soft and sleek" because I think at least one person would notice it's not really greasy if that was the case.

I always suspect then they see Alan Rickman, not Severus Snape

Honestly, it is the only explanation I can come up with how people can think him cute. (Or Draco and Lucy, for that matter!)

Really? Oh well, people can be strange But do that if it makes you happy. The name is not even bad. A friend of mine has a dog pension, and the names I've seen there over the years ... there was a dog named Diesel, just for an example. (But the owners reassured her she doesn't need to empty the tank of her car, the dog was drinking water!)

LOL! I've seen plenty of dogs called Diesel. My old dogs were called Buddy, Charlie and Oscar, so pretty normal. And my cats are called Jazz and Yuki (ironic, considering she's completely black and her name means snow). I would love to have a couple of snakes and name them Severus and Salazar.
This thread has literally turned into PET peeves.

*snicker* Ha, yes! Only had and have one animal, but not sure a pony would count as pet - it's not kept in the house, after all.
But back to the non-pet Pet Peeves: Updates that are about half a screen page long. After waiting for weeks, if not months.

Oh god yes. I have actually had a former favorite story do that recently. I waited three months and the author finally updated a chapter only with 667 words. Before the hiatus they were writing 3,000+ words a chapter and then this happened. It would have been better if they just waited another three months because the chapter sucked.

HA! I hate that too! I also dislike fics that generally have short chapters anyway. Anything less than 1000 isn't worth reading to me. I hate when RtB intros are like that.

It's more interesting when the prologue is a bit more fleshed out, yes. Usually the same goes for the comments. When people don't have the patience to introduce the story, the story itself will more likely be rushed, too.

Exactly. I hate seeing someone ask one line of question and then nobody comments after that. It's pointless. Why do people write the fics like that?

No idea. I only know that I prefer the ones who add a bit of story into the reading, longer discussions, that sort of thing.

Yep. A plot outisde of the reading is always good. Like monkeymail's fic, where Harry and Ron, as aurors, came back to capture Dolohov who also came back.

I just wish that most of the Slash ones either didn't get abandoned, have terrible grammar and spelling, or randomly jumped straight into a relationship.

I'm not the biggest slash fan but I will man up and read it if it is well written. I have came across way to many slash fics that all they did was have sex every three chapters. I still don't know why a good chunk of the slash genre features a heavy amount of sex and little plot. But anyway, I think the only RtB series I read with slash was one that featured Remus/Sirius. I can't remember the name but the author got about midway through GoF then stopped.

I don't understand the huge need for sex scenes either. I'd be fine without them so long as there's a relationship there and it fits the plot.
I'm talking about Harry/whoever. There are several Harry/Lucius RtBs where it's instantaneous AND has terrible spelling. Marwana's are good though. They're on the second book and the Harry/Tom still hasn't happened. 'Tis GOOD! Drag it out. They wouldn't sit on each other's laps straight away.
For the fic Soulbooks it is different as they're bonded and the contact is necessary (though Harry's acceptance might be a little too quick).
