It's like they automatically assume that if these characters were gay they would want to have sex 24/7 and screw whatever plot that is vaguely written in a fic. I like romances that are slow building and have a great plot interwoven inbetween the story. Instead, we have to shift through all the rubbish that has the characters acting like rabbits in heat.

Indeed. Like that book 50 Shades of Grey. A workmate told me that eventually, she just skipped all the sex scenes because she was getting bored of them. I'm certainly bored of them. They entertained me at first but now it's just...they're all the same! Unless you want to read something with super-kink, which I don't.

Yeah, if you don't want to read super-kink then I would ignore Laurell K. Hamilton books. I had the sad displeasure of reading one of her newest Anita Blake books and I am still trying to get the images out of my mind. I hate my imagination sometimes, you know?

I'm someone who refuses to do reading for the sake of reading. If those books appear, I think there needs to be a damn good reason for it.

The 50 Shades series was apparently Twilight fanfiction, just with different names and tweaked slightly. Find it odd that that's the sort of fanfics that can get published. And EVERYONE I know is reading them.

The Anita Blake series was actually pretty good early on but then LKH had to go and start writing erotica in the story. After that the series went to hell with sex scene after sex scene with a bit more sex added here and there. Hell, I still wonder how she writes a plot out for each story.

Ugh. Why would you do that? Where's the need? Where's the sense of pride in your story?

Go to the wikipedia page for Laurell K Hamilton and you can see what themes and such has been added. It also has LKH vague response to why she added erotica to the series. All I know is that she lost a ton of fan's after book 10 but gained a bunch of creeps who enjoy the series.

I also avoid Harry/Hermione fics and Harry/Draco fics because those are both just unrealistic to me as well as ones where Harry is a creature/has super powers i mean i know its fan fiction and all but thats kinda ridiculous unrealistic for harry/hermione... are you joking? i believe it was unrealistic for hermione and harry to not end up together. Harry was rasied with little or no love, and no way to identify the different kinds of love. i can easily believe he misplaced the exact kind of love for hermione. i just don't believe they can be best friends, go through all that together, and not be together as a result. i think there is something off with JKR's mind when she thought that Ginny was the right person for harry.

I agree with you.
Ginny was nothing but a fangirl. She wanted The Boy Who Lived.
That's not Harry. Harry is not this superstar that leaps tall buildings in a single bound and smooches his adoring fans when he lands. He hated his fame and in all likelihood, was probably quite content to keep as far from the media's eye as he could get for his entire life. He probably avoided every publicly held party he could possibly excuse himself from, rather than doll himself up, doll her up, and show her off to all and sundry so she could gloat about 'catching' the 'most eligible wizard in the world'.

I skip the sex scenes a lot of the time as well when there's to many of them, it is boring after awhile. Depending on my mood sometimes I only read about the first time the characters get together then skim or skip the rest. As for the spelling errors and bad grammer if it's to bad I usually stop reading. I can tolerate it and struggle through the story correcting things in my head if english isn't the authors native language and the story itself is really good. But if english is there native language I'm not as tolerant and with only one or two exceptions I always stop reading the story.

Here's something that would blow your minds. I've read stories where Harry has a sexual threesomes with Hermione and her mother, Mrs. Granger. The mind blowing part is when Hermione starts shagging her mum especially when Hermione goes down low on her mum

HA! I hate that too! I also dislike fics that generally have short chapters anyway. Anything less than 1000 isn't worth reading to me. I hate when RtB intros are like that. I completely agree, the longer the better. And I also hate RtB's that are only one liner's. The longer the comments the better and I love when the author's have a plot to go with the comments. Do you know there were actually people complaining that Isilarma's chapter's were to long! And that they wanted her to skip chapters or have the characters read the books silently to themselves and then comment at the end... double Thank goodness there were enough reviews against this idea so she decided not to. The longer the chapter's the better, the more comments the better I even like whole chapters in between the reading chapters for character or plot developement and I REFUSE to read a RtB's that skips any part of the books.

I guess one of my biggest Pet Peeves in Fanfiction would be when the Author/Authors of a story think it's necessary to post an authors note every second chapter.

Now that I think about, I have heard about this fic from some of the ff.net forums. It was a big controversy because all the TOS-police forums were reporting about it before the purge but ff.net didn't listen. It seems the author made a bunch of lemon oneshots featuring Harry and whatever girl the author's fans voted for. I think it almost had 100 chapters before it was taken down due to the authors fear of being deleted. I guess this is a good thing about the purge taking down such a nasty fic.

Hold up, it got a hundred chapters, and then the AUTHOR took it down?
...WHERE THE HELL WAS FF.NET's ADMIN? WHERE WAS CRITICS UNITED?! THIS IS ONE SICK STORY THAT NEEDED TO GO!
I am crouching in a fetal position at the images, oh god, the images, needs to find the bleach...

I am crouching in a fetal position at the images, oh god, the images, needs to find the bleach... Yeah, it was actually CU and all the other policy police forums who were griping about it. From what I remember of the summary it was basically Harry screwing every female character in and around Hogwarts. I think the author's name was sheltie or something and most of their stories were lemons or lemon based. I think the fic's title was something brainy girls but I'm not sure. What I do know is that it almost had 3000 reviews and half of those were reports.

Well everyone who has posted here has pointed out a lot of issues and I agree with most of them, and no I am not stating then as they have already been said. But there is one that Annoys me the most.
Spelling, I can understand words get mixed, typos when typing, or those that generally do not know how to spell a word. Well for one, use a Dictionary.... But the worst is when it comes to Cannon Words, like Spells or Character Names. One the ones that misspelled the most is Slytherin, and if it was only a few times and one chapter I can understand, but when they do it for the whole story it makes me not want to read.
In fact most times that puts me off unless I find the story interesting. One I read the other day where the story is good and interesting, save for spelling Slytherin as Slitherin....
But yeah, that type of misspelling is bad when all they gotta do it hit up the Wiki to learn the right name.
