My jaw dropped. "Your people are run by terrorists!? Why the hell aren't you in hiding!? How can anyone let them be in control!?" I barked at him, knowing I was being a little harsh, but remembering by own father's reign of terror over the other nations, stealing children, killing all the airbenders.

I could feel my hands getting hot at the thought of all those people, dead for nothing, and their families never even knowing why because of this stupid secret society of people. It sickened me. And these men were hiding. Sure they may have intervened with this attack, but there were still probably dozens dead just today.
"What are you doing to stop it? Can you get in contact with people who aren't terrorists and fight back?" I practically growled, wondering if I could keep my bending hidden if their answer was one I didn't like.

Did Remus just say their world was under attack from terrorists? This....this was not something I was used to. Homicide, crime, mob bosses--not terrorists. Where was Frost where you needed him?
"Bad PR huh?" I asked as Remus said that there were more of the bad guys than there were the good. "Ever thought of going to Scotland Yard? That protection might be worth something."
If not, I'd gladly call up a few of my friends from Boston PD and have them get their asses in gear. I felt bad for the guys and wanted to help.

I couldn't help but shudder at the idea of hundreds of dead police officers. It wasn't a pleasant image, let me tell you. I listened to what Zuko was saying, and inwardly agreed with the questions he was asking. How could people who opposed those manics be so overwhelmed?

I gritted my teeth. "You don't seem to understand. If you show even the slightest sign that you don't approve of what's going on, they kill you and your whole family. Others are thrown into the wizard prison, which is probably worse than death anyway. People are scared. Those who do resist are made examples of, killed, tortured...four of the order have been thrown into wizard prison in the last week. They have control over everything, even the school, and we can't do anything to stop them. All my best friends have been killed, I had to watch one of them die, and the leader of the order died about 6 weeks back. I could be going the same way, and so could my wife, and everyone we care about!" My voice rose and I clenched my wand tightly in my hand, fury building. There was a crash across the room and a glass shattered, making me breathe. I needed to calm down.

I jumped as the glass shattered. I was not expecting that, not from someone who (for some reason) reminded me very much of Maura. Maura always kept her cool, even when dealing with Dr. Pike (the most anal Medical Examiner one will ever meet).
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Thrown in prison just for opposing the other side? Killing, torture? Control of the school? Was I in Britain or Nazi Germany?
"What can I do to help?" The words were out of my mouth before my brain had time to process what I said. My blood was boiling as Remus continued to speak and I just wanted to do SOMETHING!

I felt completely useless just standing there, unable to help anyone with anything. I didn't understand everything, but what I did was enough to make me sick. In all honesty, I just wanted to go home, but I doubted that would be possible now. No, not without Hiro and the others. If they were still alive, that is. "I want to help, too!" I said, without thinking. "My friends are either dead or worse, and I won't just take that sitting down! I don't care how strong they are, I'll fight them!"

I stared in silence as Remus stated that Harry (whom I assumed to be James' son--not that Remus gave a last name at all) was only seventeen. Actually, I didn't hear the rest; I was a little peeved.
The pink haired man began screaming at Remus, and I had to admit I agreed with him. "He's not yet an adult. What makes you think he's the only one that can end this? You've got time before he turns 18, you know!"
