*tap* *tap* 1... 2... 3... test, test. Is this thing working? Oh, right. Good. So yea. If I may have your attention please! I've been thinking about this off and on for the better part of the week. I've gone through several different candidates and looked at forum posts. Y'know, that type of stuff. It wasn't a very easy decision for me, truth be told, but in the end, I suppose you can say that I followed my gut instinct. Let's all hope it's right this time! I finally decided that the new co-admin should be Kitty279. She's been an active member of this forum since nearly the beginning with over 2,700 posts and has had multiple previous experiences with being a forum admin. All told, I think she will be a great co-admin. That is all.

A proof that I still don't understand German. I've had my first class, anyway. Maybe I understand next year. Or about two years.

You are learning German, now? That's great. Feel free to ask whenever you need help. ;D

Chameleon ain't the only one who's had German lessons. The difference is, I got a B at A-level, six years ago, and have forgotten quite a bit. I can still just about work out what I wrote for part of the exam, but the rest of it just goes straight over my head now, and not only because I've forgotten the language.

That's how it was for me with English after school - forgot most of it for lack of use. It took over a decade for me to get back into reading it, and another few to really learn it halfway decent. So I know how that is for you.

French? *shudders* No, thanks. That's a crazy language, at least for me.
Thanks, Lizzie! Hope the same!

You know, I thought I'd forgotten everything from my school French, too. And it's been 15 years since I last spoke french. But now that I'm confronted with relearning it, it's surprising how fast everything comes back...

In my case it was about 13 years without any English, so it's similar, I guess. It took me a bit to remember what I once knew - the first book, I was reading with book in one and dictionary in the other hand, so to speak. But after I did read it regularly and started to use it a bit, too, it came back relatively easily - it just took me a bit!

Aha. Well, I've just started. God, I'm tired. I've just spent years on working hard to learn English. Now I'm supposed to start on German. x) Well, that was that, or Spanish or French.

I can speak French, and English, and a few of the Indian languages, but often I find myself mixing up words, French into Hindi, or English slipping into French, etc. It's really embarassing because I get strange looks.

Well, at least in German the difference between spelling and pronouncation isn't that extreme - that's my main problem with English Gnovella, that's exactly what a friend of mine does, too. During our holiday in France, the hotel staff recognised that French is lost on us and tried English, but that friend understands Croatian better than English and kept mixing it up. Didn't exactly help to clarify what she was meaning to say. And I notice that I sometimes mix up my two languages as well. I guess the more languages you understand, the more that is bound to happen.

Sooo embarrassing, especially when talking with my grandmother because while her English is good, she prefers her native language to speak in (reading emails isn't a problem since she can go at her own pace), and then we get lost because she can't understamd what I'm saying.
