That's because you can't defend it. It just doesn't compare to a series like HP. I'll read almost anything, but I gave up on Twilight after about 50 pages, and that was when I was the target age. Their is only one good thing about the books (gasp): It cured me of my insamia by putting me to sleep a quter through.

that's what I used to think, then I got sucked into the internet world of Harry Potter... everyone kind of kept making good points about Twilight, so I don't like them anymore... it's convincing...

That's exactly what happened with me! People pointing things out and me going... "huh, yeah that's really quite a bad message to send out. And that's really badly written. I'm gonna go back to HP now."

i havent like twilight since i saw the first movie...i mean ive read the books except for the entire middle section of new moon cause it was pathetic and boring so i skipped it...seriously bella is away from edward for like a few months, ginny and harry separated for a year and you dont see them complaining...but seriously...
vampires that look like a disco ball in the sun....werewolves that arent actually werewolves and were apparently the size of a horse?? SM what were you thinking???
...give me Padfoot and Moony as well as just about the entire harry potter cast any day

I love Harry Potter because it's more original... I mean, JKR made a whole new world AND it's traditions, AND sayings, and well... everything! But SM just made vampires perfect versions of humans... I mean, if Edward didn't sparkle, and actually wasn't so perfect and old fashioned, maybe I would have liked Twilight... for a little longer?

i just cant understand how people are so obsessed with it...like in that picture that Serena R. Snape posted before with that person saying that Sirius was a rip off of Jacob and Twilight came first...first of all remus is the werewolf not sirius and secong JK has been around since the 90s...i was seriously banging my head on my desk when i first read it...
i hate how the vampires are 'perfect' i mean i get its a lure for prey and whatever but her refering to them as greek gods in every other sentence annoys the crap out of me....the best thing to come out of twilight was the 'vampires suck' movie

Honestly, I don't know what people see in Twilight. I've never actually read the books, even though I bought the first one to try, but I can't see why anyone likes them. If I was going to read a book about Vampires, I'd go for Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. They were good, even though the first was written in the eighties and there's a lot of angst in them. Anne Rice also wrote them in the first person, which I don't usually like, but I could cope with it with her books. Another favourite author of mine, Kelley Armstrong, did exactly the same, but made her characters feel a bit more realistic and the Werewolves she created, weren't dependant on the moon to change, but still had to change once a month.

I loved that "Sirius Black is a werewolf" thing... it made me laugh.... and then I realized that the person was actually that stupid..... then I laughed harder!

I've only ever seen Interview with a Vampire, it was ok, not great and definitely didn't inspire me to go and get her books. And I last all respect for her as an author when I found out she put her books on the 'not allowed to make fanfics of' list. That just makes her sound like an arrogant jerk and turned me off her books even more than the movie did.

I read her books first, then after I had read the third on, I watched Interview with the Vampire. I wasn't so keen on the film, but I did think they had done well with it. The second film that was made, Queen of the Damned, which combined the second and third Vampire Chronicles books wasn't kept so close to the books, but it was still a good movie in its own right. The only reason I watched the films was because I liked the books.

I got this from FFn
The Top Eleven Things Everyone Should Know About Twilight (Created by Sarah1281, which is whom I took this from. Go check her out; her stories are hilarious!
1. Werewolves are only immortal as long as they want to be. Yeah. Kind of strange. Apparently it has to do with how often they choose to become wolves. Of course, these are quite strange werewolves who don’t follow the moon.
2. Vampires sparkle in the sun. Really. And no one ever laughs at them when they do this. Then again, they only ever show this to lovestruck teenage girls.
3. In a werewolf/vampire/human threesome, the human has to be in the middle so the freezing vampire and burning werewolf balance each other out. Or something like that.
4. It is not at all creepy to make an unborn baby your soulmate nor is it creepy to raise your soulmate from infancy as its father/brother and then become its lover.
5. Author Stephenie Meyer is apparently a big supporter of the rights of demon babies.
6. Wanting to literally eat your girlfriend is romantic, not deeply disturbing.
7. Jeopardizing a fragile treaty between two very dangerous, deadly groups because you can’t control your hormones is endearing, not painfully stupid.
8. When you’re friends with vampires and werewolves, you no longer are required to care about your human friends and family.
9. . When a guy you have been dating for a few months abruptly leaves and never plans on coming back and you take to cliff diving to hear his voice, you are in no way crazy nor should you look into therapy.
10. You should never, ever let Bella and Edward name anything. Ever.
11. TELLING a group of vampires that want to kill your baby that she is half human will do nothing. Finding someone who claims that they are half-human solves everything. They’ll even kill that vampire that’s out to get you for you.

I have to say I'm actually a fan of both fandoms. I read all the HP books before I read Twilight. But I don't know which series I like more. Although, I like the Twilight fanfiction better then the actual books. The writers that make Edward and Bella human are a lot better writers then SM. But I don't agree with E/B marrying to young. I don't want to be married or have kids until I'm 30. I don't like Vampires or Wolves, but I liked the love story. And haven't E/B heard of a condom? But for reading FF I like Twilight FF a lot better then HP.

From what i can gather i think people who read a lot of Draco/Hermione stories would LOVE Twilight.

I thought the first book was okay and looked forward to it getting better instead it got steadily worse. I think the problem was that New Moon onwards wasn't SM's original continuation, she says herself on her website that she wrote a more adult sequel but her publishers decided to make the books young adult so she had to change the plot. They also wanted more of Jacob which is why we have to put up with the crappy love triangle and a whole load of unneccesary angst. The original sequel was given to I think her sister as a present and quite frankly is the story I want to read.

Personally, I love Twilight. I love Harry Potter more though. I feel that people look right at how Twilight portrays Vampires, and pretty much ignore some of the really good messages. Such as in the fourth book- Bella did all she could to protect her loved one, Kind of like Lily protected Harry. In the first book, Bella was prepared to give up her life to save Renee, much like Harry going to save Sirius when he thought he was being tortured.
