Here is what I would have done for Harry's kids:
Maxwell "Max" James Potter
Christopher "Chris" Sirius Potter
Lucinda "Lucy" Lily Potter

Nice names And much better than canon. Particularly for the middle one.

I've never really contemplated on what their names would be, but no doubt mine would be terrible because I'm horrible at coming up with names lol. I'd end up just punching my keyboard and making sense of what comes out.

Even that would be better than Albus Severus.

most likely. Crap, I just realized if I do an RtB of my story once it's done, I'm going to have to come up with a lot of names for the next gen of Hogwarts reading the story.
I have no doubt it'll take longer to make the names then it will to write my story.

Nice. I may just find some sort of random name generator and use that.

Go for it! It's a lot of fun fitting them with names

Yeah, although I want to name one person something ridiculous, just to screw around. Like all the names are serious, and then some kid named Billybob Thornton or something starts talking.

Ugh, I can't name any character either :/ It's why I've stopped writing OCs because the names turn out awkward and terrible. So I'd probably just keep the book names and what not because it's better than what I'd write anyways.

Well considering the pairing is Harry/Young Tonks, the names are obviously going to change. My story is just way to AU to keep the book names.

I generally keep my AU story pairings canon for Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny so I don't have to change the names unless I want to, which I probably will anyways because I don't plan on Harry being in awe of Snape and Dumbledore the way he was. Good luck finding a good name You could always try pulling out a name like Aquila or something if you go the Black family way and stick to constellations to honor Sirius or something... But that sounds more like a Malfoy thing than a Potter thing. Ah well, I'm rubbish at this anyways.

I'll get it eventually, it's just going to bee a pain in the butt, and I'm going to end up with a headache.

Too true. I always get the feeling JKR just lost her creativity at that moment and went with dead people names. As long as you don't take the easy way out, than any name sounds good.

Yeah. Plus, I want to add a bit of nationality to the names, you know? Like maybe some American /Spanish/German/Whatever etc. to them, that's the one thing that bugs me, that for a "Premier Wizarding School" there wasn't that many foreign students, despite magical travel making everything easier.

I've always wondered about that too. I mean in the entire series we see two Indian sisters, one black or African British (?) if you want to be politically correct guy, and one Asian. In a school with approximately 300 kids minimum. That's assuming there is 40 kids per year, ten in each house, and go through out the entire seven years.
And Hogwarts is supposedly one of the best schools in the world, so, where are all the foreign kids who'd want that kind of education?

It's an AU fic that I don't really have a decent summary for, but if you want to try it out, here's the link. I'd explain it better, but I've been up for 20 hours and my mind is blanking in the worst kind of way.

I'm used to staying up for long hours. I just haven't had my daily can of monster energy, so I'm tired, and I have no caffeine in the house, except for coffee which I can't drink.

So I'd probably just keep the book names and what not because it's better than what I'd write anyways. I can't create names either. In the AU stories I'm trying to write, but haven't uploaded anywhere yet, I'm going for names like Tarquinia, Titania, Lucretia, names like that, which I think sound like something the Malfoys would go for, Cassiopeia, which I'm sure the Blacks would go for, and things like Aaron and Elizabeth, which I would have expected Hermione to choose. The stories are Harry/Lucius and Hermione/Draco, which is why I'm choosing names which seem at least vaguely close to what the characters might choose.

Oh, I know the naming problem better than I care to. As I have written horse stories since I can remember, I was always having that problem. In consequence, I kept reusing names because that was easier than finding new ones all the time.

Whenever I'm trying to think of names, I'll try and make sure the first name flows smoothly into the second, if I use one, and the second name flows smoothly into the surname. The way I do it is to think about how the names would sound when someone says them. To me, the names JK chose for Harry's children do flow smoothly, but something like Ashley Potter wouldn't.

I have no doubt it'll take longer to make the names then it will to write my story. You should see the chart I have for next-gen names. I have nearly sixty on there. It does include the 13 canon children, but I have a lot. It also is a little hard because you need to pair up some of the canon characters from Harry's year, figure out who died, and who married a Muggle. Then there are the Muggle-born children. So yeah, it's a lot of work, but it's kind of fun to make up characters. If you need help coming up with decent names, you can google popular names or if you'd rather, I could help some.
