Alice awoke to find herself in the arms of someone, she shook her head slightly, trying to figure out what happened, one minute she was seeing Maxell Rosebane and the minister, and the next she was on the ground. Still feeling hazy, she couldn't help but note how comfortable she was being held after what seemed like forever.
"What happened?" she asked, lifting herself up, inadvertently leaning into the stranger. She turned her head and gave a small squeak of surprise. She was in the arms of Maxwell Rosebane. She needed to move, but she was paralyzed in shock.
"I-I'm so sorry, I'm fine, really!" she said, blushing a deep red.

Maxwell both admired and was amused by her shyness, but kept the amusement out of his features. The last thing he wanted was for her to think she was being made fun of.
"There is no need to be sorry, Miss Alice." he spoke sincerely. "It is not your fault your body gave out on you. May I ask why you fainted, or is that too personal?"

"Ah, I skipped breakfast and had dinner quite early, I guess I just need to eat, I'm so sorry for bothering you!" said Alice, blushing still. She shifted to move slightly away from him, gathering some dignity.
He stared at her in concern, with warm eyes. She couldn't help but blush a bit deeper at his gaze. It felt so, consuming, like he knew everything about her. She resisted the urge to shiver, and instead brushed back her hair, glancing to the ground before flickering her eyes to peek up at his face.

Hess was rather uncomfortable being harnessed onto one of the Hogwarts carriages, and he knew he would be grateful for when he would be free to go his own way again. He was used to this routine of transporting students to and from the school, but it was still rather obnoxious. The only reason why he found some relief in the whole affair, was because most of the students never even gave him a second glance.
On some occasions, a student would bring their pet onto the carriage with them, although this happened rarely. When this occurred however, he would speak with them for a while, if only to break the monotony of the trip. So he waited a bit before turning his head around, so he could see inside of the window with one eye. He was slightly stunned when a cat stared back at him. Never before had any animals taken such a keen interest in him, or any of his kind for that matter. Yes, they were congenial enough when need be, just as he was, but to actually have one that would stare so avidly at him was almost puzzling. So he asked, "What kind of creature are you, that you would find me so fascinating?" for at this point, he was starting doubt that this animal was just a cat.

A smile that he usually didn't use came to him - a genuine one. The girl - Alice - had this sweet innocence about her... and exuded an air of an inner strength that couldn't be stomped out. "It was no problem at all, Miss Alice. I am always willing and ready to assist those who need it." He looked to Garrison, who gave him a knowing look. Not that he'd spoken to the man about her at all - they weren't that close in the friend department.
"Ah, it seems I have things I need to take care of! How could I forget?" Garrison said, probably a little too dramatically. "I suppose I'll have to eat later..." And with that he went off, leaving them to themselves.
Maxwell sighed inwardly and got up. He offered his hand to Alice. "If hunger is the only reason you blacked out, why don't the two of us have something to eat? We can even take our food outside and enjoy the lovely day, if you wish."

Alice felt relieved that Maxwell Rosebane didn't seem to bothered, though Eleazar's warning remained. He's nicest to those he wants something from. However, she found herself trusting the man, was that wrong? He seemed so kind.
She watched the minister leaving in relief. It was one thing to be caught ina compromising situation by Mr. Rosebane, and another to be witnessed by the minister. She felt her blush lessen as he left. What a busy man, always having something to do. And then she heard Maxwell offer an invite to lunch. He got up and offered her a hand, and she felt so shy. Yet, she couldn't refuse a man of his caliber, could she?
"Ah, I wouldn't want to be a bother, Mr. Rosebane," said Alice as she took his warm broad hand to rise up. "You really don't have to trouble yourself over me!"

"My dear, you are neither trouble nor a bother." Maxwell said politely. "It wouldn't be right or proper for you to be left unattended as you are. That, and you are a breath of fresh air in this stale place. It is refreshing to meet someone as genuine as yourself!" he paused for a moment, letting the praise sink in. "Of course, I did not mean to force you to eat with me. If you'd rather eat with your fellow workers, I'd be more than happy to escort you."

Alice couldn't help but blush again. Mr. Rosebane seemed to keep saying charming things. She was about to say no, but his warm eyes gazed at her, looking ever so nice. What could possibly happen in one lunch?
"Ah-tha-You're too kind Mr. Rosebane! And I'd be delighted to join you, lunch sounds lovely. Some fresh air could do me some good anyways," replied Alice nervously.
She felt extremely self-conscious as she pulled her red robe down a little along her thighs. She felt entirely too unprepared for a lunch with Mr. Rosebane.

So adorable. He thought, enjoying her flustered reactions to him. "In that case, let us get our food from the lunchroom and go outside." he paused and gave her a meaningful look. "After you, Miss Alice."

Alice nodded, and the two walked into the lunch room. She couldn't help but feel slightly nervous as they entered the narrower hall and Maxwell walked closely behind her.
"Do you often eat lunch in here, Mr. Rosebane, and with the newer employees?" Asked Alice as they entered the lunch room.

Maxwell frowned. "Unfortunately, no. I usually spend most of my time either alone, or with my son. I have sat with the new employees in the past, but many of them have tried to befriend me solely for my wealth." he sighed listlessly. "A shame, really. Sometimes, being born into wealth makes others act rather selfishly. It seems better to eat with my son, the Minister, or mostly by myself."
"What about you, Miss Alice? Do you always eat down here, or do you go somewhere else?" he asked, grabbing a prepacked lunch. In truth, it was well below what he'd normally eat, but it didn't seem polite to complain about it.

I was sitting at a table by myself in the lunchroom, doing some quick looking over of an article that I was editing. It was slightly boring and tedious work, as I already had the habit of looking for and correcting errors on a daily basis, so it was second nature to me. I sighed and sat back, thinking about when I would be able to go home, when I noticed a gorgeous man enter the lunchroom. Another sigh escaped me as I realized that he was already accompanied by a woman. 'Probably together,' I thought morosely, although still staring longingly in their direction as they went and grabbed lunches.

Alice couldn't help but feel sorry for the man. All the rumors floating around and not having the chance to meet new people must be horrible. She felt horrible for him. However, the mention of her son made her remember that she had gone to school with Mr. Rosebane's son, and now she was having lunch with the father. It's just a friendly lunch, she reminded herself.
"That sounds awful! Don't you get lonely? I love to eat with people, but usually I just skip my lunches to work a bit more. On occasion I'll grab something from here," replied Alice, taking the cheapest sandwich and a cup of tea. "I used to eat at Soleil Cafe on Diagon quite a bit, but with no one to go with, it gets lonely. The place is rather small, and the tables are all tiny booths that there's no way to interact with anyone. It's a shame since it has lovely pastries."

"It does get rather...lonesome at times. I'm used to it, though." His mood brightened at the mention of the cafe. "Soleil Cafe? , you say? I sometimes go there when I have a free moment. I'm rather fond of their Raspberry Delights."

"Oh I adore the raspberry delights. With a warm cup of tea, it makes for the most wonderful afternoon.where would like to sit Mr. Rosebane?" askes Alice as they approached the cash register. She looked at the price list again, and frowned. She didn't have enough for both tea and a sandwich, so she put back her tea. If she'd realised she'd faint, she'd have brought her wallet to buy some food with her tea. Oh well.

As the attractive man was close by to where I was sitting, I decided to "inadvertantly" listen into their conversation. They were talking about a café that they frequented, called "Soleil Café" a place I had heard of before, but never been to. For some reason, I felt highly drawn to this man, and wanted to speak up and say something, but I couldn't seem to find my voice, and could only stare blatantly in his direction.

Maxwell noticed the woman staring at him, and saw that nobody else was sitting at that table. While the idea of sitting next to the woman annoyed him slightly, There wasn't anywhere else. "Why don't we sit over there? It's the least crowded." He then noticed that she'd put back the tea and came to a sad conclusion - Alice didn't seem to have enough money to properly feed herself.
He paid for her tea, and added an apple as well. "I'm sorry if this is too forward, but I don't think that a simple sandwich is enough to satisfy you after going so long without eating. This is hardly enough, but I don't want to impose upon you."

The man suddenly looked over to see me staring at him, and then he mentioned "Why don't we sit over there?" I felt the heat rising to my cheeks, and knew I must be blushing like crazy. I quickly pulled my eyes away form him before he made his way over to the table, and grabbed my quill and started fixing errors with a fervor I hadn't had in a long time.

Alice couldn't help but be startled at Maxwell's buying her the tea and apple. It seemed so strange that such an important man like himself would be concerned over her. There was nothing she could do for him in return.
"Ah, there was no need Mr. Rosebane, I'll definitely give you your money back!" Began Alice, "But thank you. I'm incredibly grateful for your kindness, especially since there seems to be so little I can offer you in return. If there's anything I can help you with Mr. Rosebane, please, don't hesitate to ask!"
As she said this, she walked towards the table Maxwell had suggested, feeling highly embarrassed and pleased that someone like Mr. Rosebane was showering her with his concern.

Maxwell smiled serenely as they made their way to the table. "Your company is payment enough, Alice. I've forgotten how nice it is to mingle with others." He looked at her out of the corner of his eye. "But I know how frustrating it can be to feel in debt to someone..." he frowned thoughtfully. "If you truly feel bothered by my assisting you, would you care to join me at the cafe sometime?"

I furrowed my brow slightly at this question, but tried to play it off as concentrating. Why was I getting this reaction to a man I had never seen in my life? Why was I upset that he was going to a café with someone?

Alice found herself once again startled and blushing. Mr. Rosebane just knew exactly what to say to stun her all over again. Did he really find her interesting? As she met his gaze, she felt her mouth dry up, and an automatic response form at her lips. She wanted to earn his approval. A man like Mr. Rosebane was somewhat like an idol, and rhe fact that he was paying attention to Alice made her yearn for his approval even more.
"Ah, I'd be delighted," replied Alice as they reached the table, but then a frown crossed her lips. "Don't you feel like I may be too immature for your company Mr. Rosebane?"

I kept my head down as they finally reached the table, chanting in my head, 'Only speak if spoken too, only speak if spoken too.' Because I didn't want to embarrass myself.

Maxwell chuckled in spite of himself. "Why no, not at all. I actually envy you, to be honest. It would be nice to learn how to relax and be more open with people." He pulled her chair out for her. "Here you are, Miss Alice."
He then looked at the other woman, pretending to notice her for the first time. "Excuse me, but I hope you don't mind us sitting with you? It's less crowded over here, and I'd like to be able to sit with plenty of elbow room, so to speak."

I whipped my head up sharply at the man's query, blotching the page with my quill while doing so. Flustered, I replied, "N-no there is plenty of space for the both of you, help yourselves." All the while, I hoped that my cheeks had remained a normal colour.

Alice couldn't help but feel pleased at impressing Mr. Rosebane. She wanted to hear his approval more. It was then that she noticed the other girl, who seemd slightly older to Alice, and embarrassed.
"I'm akice Boot," said Alice, offering a pleasant smile, "What's your name?"
She slid into a seat with a smile.

Maxwell smiled, casually took his seat and begin to unpack his lunch. It was a far cry from the meals his chef made him - he refused to use house elves because they are magical creatures. The Ministry didn't consider them a threat, but he knew that a time would come when that changed.
"A fine name indeed, Miss Violet." he said pleasantly. "Ah, that name is rather familiar... didn't you write about the Dragon Incident last year? It was a very gripping article, if I do say so myself."

"Oh, no I only edited the article," I said, although I mentally added, 'With how many mistakes it was riddled with I practically had too rewrite it entirely though.' Speaking aloud again, I stated, "I would love to publish something in the Daily Prophet however. I came here hoping to get a job as a journalist, but unfortunately, they weren't hiring at the time."
