I think I would have liked the darker route myself. Then again, I thrive on darkness.

I like Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon (through Johto I had channels that didn't continue and just saw repeats of Season 1, season 2 if I was lucky, I love S1 a lot but that drained my enthusiasm for it). I love the games though. Digimon seasons 1-4. All of them were pretty good. I also watched Beyblade seasons 1-3. Not the newer Metal version. Tyson, Kai, Max and Ray are where's it at. Oh god I forgot about Beyblade! First series was freaking awesome. I had 4 and a stadium that I used to take to school! One was a proper heavy, metal Dragoon and the rest were the cheapy plastic ones. Have to say my favourite characters wer Kai anf Ray. Kenny bugged me, as did Andrew... I've also seen Gravitation, DN Angel, Wolf's Rain and Otome Youkai Zakuro.

I have so many beyblades its not funny. My favorite battles on the tv show have to be Tyson vs Kai in Season 3 for the title and Kai vs. Brooklyn later in the season. Not sure for season 1 and 2.

I wished it had gotten darker too. But it was pretty well done overall.

What is everyones favorite and least favorite anime/manga genre(s)? For me my favorite genres would have to be anything that has supernatural or psychological elements, the creepier the better in my opinion. My least favorite genre would have to be the overused mecha genre. It just feels like once you've seen one mecha series you've seen them all due to having the same basic plot. This would be especially true for the Gundam series. Oh don't get me wrong, I loved Gundam Wing and G-Gundam, but the rest of the Gundam series' seem to follow the same plot. For the older series, it was to have massive battles in between some boring character interactions. Then the new series focused on five minutes of action and 20 minutes of being emo, yeah I'm talking to you Gundam Seed, which became really repetitive.

I don't think I have a favourite genre but I guess it used to be those high school comedies with a teeny bit of romance that never went anywhere but I think now I would get fed up with those. If I watched any now I think it would be something with action and mystery in it.

It's like every single series for it has the stereotypical plot about a girl falling for a guy or vice versa with random bits of comedy inbetween then an ending that is not surprising at all happens. It also doesn't help that nowadays they have to show an ungodly amount of fanservice to keep the male audience watching. Why they have to throw in a dozen panty shots and nosebleeds an episode is beyond me.

Excellent example Riku. I really miss the days where most of the animes/mangas had a plot that kept the reader interested without throwing in a bunch of fanservice. If your series is in need of viewers and you have to use that as a eyecatcher, then the mangaka needs to just quit while their ahead. I'll just stick with stuff like Hellsing, Neon Genesis, Ergo Proxy, Ghost in a Shell, Claymore, Witch Hunter Robin, etc. before I have to deal with some of that crap. Sad to see that 70% of the anime/manga series' nowadays have to use a pantyshot or bouncing cleavage to get by.

I think the occasional panty shot is fine, but only once in a while. Though if a story is good enough, I'll be able to deal with it.

I read one manga where two guys where having a conversation while flipping through a porn magazine. They basically had three pages of ecchi stuff while two guys talk about their day, not impressed I can tell you.
But I tend to enjoy all genres, as long as the story is original, well thought out, and not filled with random images that do nothing for the story.

I tend not to watch anime that has an large amount of cleavage/pantyshots, but I can't say I'm not guilty of reading Rosario Vampire though. I did enjoy it, but it did get overly ridiculous with everything.

Oh, I'm fine with one or two in an episode but some of these animes take it to the extreme. A good example would be Kanokon which seems to be dedicated to showing at least 12 various stages of fanservice eac episode. Lets not try and talk about the plot becasue half way through the first season I was still wondering what the hell was going on. I did feel sorry for the main male character, the poor guy must have been anemic by the end of the series due to the nosebleeds.

Thank you! It's from Angel Diary, that's another really good series to check out, its korean, and original (sorry, most manwha I've read tends to follow very similar plots, rich boy meets poor girl, two fall in love, his bff loves her, he/she/both are in a gang, etc) And I find your Avatar adorable and apt for the nickname. Mine, it's cute alone, paired with the little saying thing below, well..at least it fits my personality

I did enjoy it, but it did get overly ridiculous with everything. I thought that Rosario+ Vampire was an okay anime. I just did not like how much fanservice was in the show; luckily for me I could ignore it. I liked the manga better since the plot was not as skewered due to the anime adaptation and the second season of the manga turned slightly darker.

He is adorable, not that I've read the series, but I have watched an episode or two of the gravitation anime with my friend, it was one that I always said I'd get into but never did.
Haha, thanks XD. And if you like fantasy, comedy and angel/demon theme, you'd like Angel Diary. I think that was the first manga I ever read actually as opposed to watching animes.

I think I'll have to give the manga a try then, cody! Anyone here a fan of Tsubasa? Be warned that the first manga series for Rosario+ Vampire is a little corny. The second season is sligthy darker because it seems that the mangaka has decided to up the level for the plot. Their is still some corniness to it but the better plot makes up for it. To tell you the truth i have never really sat down and read Tsubasa. I think I browsed through the first four chapters and forgot about it. I may just check it out sometime this week.

In fact, that's one of the reasons I DO love it.

As of right now, I am reading the manga for Deadman Wonderland. It feels kind of like Paranoia Agent and Boggiepop Phantom. It is a very dark manga in my opinion and features a very interesting cast of characters. Heres the summary if your interested or think the Rosario+ Vampire isn't that great.
A massive earthquake ravaged Japan's mainland and destroyed most of Tokyo, sinking three-quarters of the city into the ocean. Ten years later, the story shifts to Igarashi Ganta, a seemingly ordinary student attending Nagano Prefecture's middle school. As an escapee, a survivor of the great earthquake, Ganta has no memories of the tragedy and has lived a normal life. This all changes when a strange person covered in blood and crimson armor floats through his classroom windows. Grinning madly, the Red Man massacres Ganta's entire class but instead of killing him, embeds a red crystal shard in Ganta's chest. Within days of the massacre, Ganta is declared the sole suspect. Following a quick trial, Ganta is sentenced to death and is incarcerated in Deadman Wonderland, a massive theme park like prison. Arriving at the prison, Ganta is fitted with a special collar which monitors his location and life signs. Due to the heinous nature of Ganta's 'crime', he has to live out his imprisonment under Deadman Wonderland's 'Death Sentence'. A lethal poison is constantly injected into his bloodstream through the collar, but it can be neutralized by consuming a peculiar candy-like medicine every three days, which can be acquired through various activities in the prison, i.e. performing for audiences, working backstage, purchasing with cast points, etc. In order to gather Cast Points, the prison's currency, an inmate has to perform in the facility's lethal games and survive. Fortunately for Ganta, he is aided by a mysterious girl named Shiro, who apparently knows Ganta, and is known by other prisoners as well. While trying to survive as an inmate on death row, Ganta becomes increasingly obsessed with the 'Red Man' and tries to find him so he could clear his name. In a bizarre twist, Ganta begins to develop the ability to manipulate his own blood, to the point of turning it into a weapon. Unbeknownst to him, Ganta has become one of the prison's 'Deadmen', a segregated group of prisoners possessing the Branches of Sin which makes them capable of controlling their blood. After his ability is discovered, Ganta is forced to participate in brutal gladiatorial death matches, known as Carnival Corpse, whose anonymous spectators pay large amounts of money to watch. In his struggle he manages to befriend some of those he fought off in the arena, and with their help Ganta continues his quest to uncover the identity of the Red Man, why he turned into a Deadman and the dark secrets the prison authorities are hiding.

I'm rewatching Sailor Moon again (for the 20th time) and this time I decided to make gifs for some of my favourite scenes. I'm posting the gifs on kawaiigraphix tumblr blog I own. All the graphics there are made by yours truly.

Sailor Moon is onf of those shows that I remember watching little bits of as a kid but don't remember anything about it now. The same can be said for DBZ and Card Captors.

Watched both those animes as well, but liked Card Captor Sakura more. I tend to find DBZ and fighting animes like this a bit boring, to be honest. All they do is fight and the episodes are way too prolonged. I mean, one fight lasts for ten or more episodes?

*snickers* That's how Yugioh is! One duel could take over 5 episodes. At least Pokemon tried to limit it to two episodes per battle.
