FORWARDED MESSAGE TO EVERYONE: Dear readers and writers of HP Reading the book Fics,

The campaign is over! Heart of Aiur has realized what he has done is wrong and wants to leave . I personally think that unwise as that might make him do this again - even if unintentionally or unknowingly - but I still feel glad all of this is over.
I will soon continue my own writing story and just to celebrate will I add as many chapters as I can for all my reading the Book stories; Reading with Strength, the Reading Trio and Preventing Trouble, Reading Through Time.

I would give it the rest of the week before it cools down. The admin to ff.net has always been a bit lax when it comes to the TOS of the site an example of tat would be the three year old TOS. I'm thinking he had a bit of freetime and decided to review his email for ff.net and since he probably saw a ton of these "HP reads" alerts, he deleted some of them.

It's not over yet. I've been reported by someone named "Delete the Clutter" who apparently favorites fics to report. I can't PM him as he's turned it off and he has a high success rate apparently.

The Admins on FFN really need to make up their mind - either these stories are forbidden, then they should really delete all of them and put it *clearly* into the TOS. Or they are allowed, then they need to stop these actions. But to allow them for years, then go every few months and delete some, that doesn't make any sense, is chaotic and downright annoying. I'm heartily tired of all that - if they want to drive users away, then they are doing a great job of it!

Point Given, thank you for making this page, I hope many of my favourite authors will switch here and we can finally read and review in peace, without all this interference.

There was this new scare on ff.net about this new author named Delete the Clutter. Like Heart of Aiur, he/she was going to delete all “Read by Characters” stories (all the ones he/she put as favorites). People were freaking out. He/she had about 68 stories . . . then he/she did this . . .

I think I can explain Delete the Clutter's message. He PMd me an apology and said he was taking those favorites off of his account and stopping reporting them. So that message is a way of saying, he tried to report what he thought were illegal fics but he realized he was acting like an idiot in doing so.

The most recent mass deletion conspiracy was headed by one person with the penname Heart of Aiur and his/her few supporters. It was not sanctioned by ff.net. I think the site really does not care, but please do not quote on the last bit. I am not 100% only 80%.

that sounds as though they've realised they were in the wrong.

"kill the spiders" = delete the bad fics/ authors

"to save the butterflies" = to let the good fics be read/ to respect RL authors (JK Rowling)

"realise you've become a spider" = realise you ARE killing the butterflies/ good fics/authors

but i wouldn't count on it. sounds trollish...not that i can speak that

Watch out for the people of this forum on ff.net okay. And if you could alert some of the authors to block them it would be a major help. Here's the forum and have them block all the members.

I wrote about it a while ago, but I did find one called TLO's Reported Story Archive. It's kind of sickening how he sounds so happy when they've been deleted. Reminds me of Voldemort or Hitler, or someone like that.

I think that it may be a good idea for this forum to create a list of authors you should block if you want your 'reading the books' (or any) story to stay safe on ff.net. That way if someone else starts something like this AGAIN we can kill it quick.

Actually, I have blocked a list of users already who were involved in the last attempt to get that sort of story deleted. Not sure how up-to-date the list is, however, as it's from the beginning of the year, but if anyone wants it ...?

This sort of thing really makes no sense to me. As yes if you go by the TOS, what we are doing is against the rules. But when you take in account that FF.net has not stopped it, should tell you something about the company. Also JK and Warner Brothers does not seem to really care to put a stop to it as well, though that could just be because we are not making any money from doing these stories.

And JK has stated in the past that she really did not care, unless you try and do what HP Lexicon tried to do, that being coming out with your own book using her information. So if JK, the author of this series does not care then FF.net should not be getting on us about it.

Blocking a user does not keep them from reading or reporting or even favoriting your story. It only keeps them from reviewing.

I know, but back then they were bugging the authors via reviews and PMs as well, so we thought it wouldn't hurt.

The weird thing is, I can still access shopaholic1369's fic - it's gone from his/her profile page, but when I tried the link I still have to the story from the update emails, it led me right there without a problem.

Is it possible for you to save that fic? In terms of copying it and saving it on Microsoft Word or something? At least then we'd have some sort of copy if shopaholic hasn't backed it up.
