So, it looks like charmed4lifekaren's stories are about to be reported by the Fanfiction Renaissance group. It seems that these people are extremely overbearing when it comes to the TOS rules on ff.net. I decided to check-out their forum and was shocked by how uncaring the group seem to the responses most of the authors they have reported. I did see that a few of their responses seemed believable because of how childish some of the responses were. I know having your stories reported seems like a slap in the face, but these authors could have at least been civil and not degrade themselves by making threats and name calling. That kind of act just fuels the fires of their ego's and does not help your case in negotiating with hostile grammar-Nazis. I know that statement may seem extremely hypocritical, but when the moderator of the forum calls himself such in his profile it seems quite fitting you know? Anyway, here's the link to their forum if you wish to see them trashing people. forum.fanfiction.net/forum/Fanfiction_Renaissance/97194/I have Charmed4lifekaren's fics backed up, though I don't have the latest updates.

Well, hopfully my creativity will be able to find another home. My RtB(s) did, hopefull my others will too. I believe I might have a couple others that might be deleted, but I'm going to leave those up, I'm not too into those anymore. (not talking about my "A Different Shell Cottage" Fic, though I'm not too sure that won't be hit either.) That's the spirit! Let's not allow ourselves to be bogged down!

Slytherin_Studios has decided to take down their fics, all their RtBs! I mean, I went to my favorites and the one that I have listed showed that it was updated, I went to it and all I got was an A/N saying they are taking it down! I then went to their profile and clicked on all their RtBs and got the same message!

I thought they sounded Rude AND full of themselves since they have a high sucess rate of deletion at all, but im seriously considering leaving ff.net all together as it seems these people are running it (by deciding what stay and what goes by reporting) more then the admins, whom ill admit are lax. Still though Id rather someone run the site that when they say something shouldnt be allowed (even id id be upset since they're my favorite kind of story but id understand) , they follow their own rules, instead if letting go and let that type of story be there for years. Thats probably the part that pisses me off the most.

If you're planning on leaving ff.net for good and have stories that aren't CR stories, there's a new site that's been created in the last few days called 'yourfanfiction.com'. The opening message on their homepage reads: "Welcome to YourFanfiction.com - giving you Your Fanfiction, your way. Due to various other sites either randomly deleting fics or not providing the quality service you would want from a fanfiction site, this has been set up in hopes of covering all of your fanfiction needs.
This website not only includes all of the regular features of a fanfiction site, but also includes the extra MA rating for explicit fics, our rules allow summaries to be rated as the individual fic is rated (ie. M rated summaries for M rated fics etc) and we will endeavour to respond to all problems and questions sent to us, hopefully within 24 hours.
Our rules also allow the addition of RPFs but are equally subject to our disclaimer. In addition to this, we promise to NEVER delete a fic without first giving the author an opportunity to correct any problems there may be with it (ie. incorrectly rated fics). Should we be forced to delete a fic, it will be done with a full explanation and, if possible, a copy of the fic being sent along with the explanation so you don't have to worry about losing your fics unexpectedly anymore!
As we're in the middle of setting up, please be patient while we update as many categories/characters as possible as quickly as possible. If there are any Categories/Characters that have not been added that you'd like to use, please feel free to email admin@yourfanfiction.com requesting that it be added and we will persevere to make sure your request is added asap.
Welcome once again and if you have any problems or questions, please feel free to email us - admin@yourfanfiction.com"
Not only that, but someone who commented on that post GOT A REPLY from the admins. Admittedly, it's early days and there aren't many people on the site, but it already feels like the admins care more than the ones on FF.Net

Oh that sounds better than ffnet already. They do sound like they care more. See I dont think MA fic should be a problem IF RATED CORRECTLY or some kind of restriction is set up like having to log in/confirm birthday (while its true some might lie yes, Its still out of the way of the public eye to where random guests can see (of any age). I wish ALL the stories could be transfered, or atleast the really good ones. Seeing as ffnet doesnt allow MA rating stories, if they follow through with their own rule, most of those stories will be gone.

Thanks for that, Titansrule! Sounds good to me, and I hope some authors I like will switch there or use it as a second one to post. This board here can't host all the non-reading fics as well, after all. FFN is just too annoying right now, and the way everything is handled makes me so angry. An alternative that really works and treats the authors (and readers) like customers, not like scum, would be very welcome!

Exactly my thoughts. The only downside is because it's so new there's almost no one there - there are only 3 Harry Potter stories at the moment! I have informed my readers on FF.net that if the situation doesn't improve that I'm just going to continue my series on there and on Wattpad and hope they're interested enough to follow me over!

Well, if the authors here who post on FFN, too, could mention it at least in their AN, or put the link in their profiles, that might help a bit. I know it will take time to build up something new, but it would still be nice to have another place to go to, one where we don't have to deal with useless staff that doesn't know what they want. I can give them time to get things going and build up something new and hopefully good. Look at how quick this board here gains new members ... even if not all of them are authors, for not even a week this site is already doing well. Let's see how both of them do a few weeks down the road. The way FFN is acting might drive more people off to other sites.
In any case, I have already bookmarked it and will keep an eye on it.

I was just going through the TOS on FFN and noticed huge capitalised sections and wondered if that was new. Also, can anybody tell me what this actually means:
To me it sounds like they're saying they aren't to blame if things get deleted but I'm not sure as they use language most people wouldn't understand. Stupid legal words.

Stupid legal words. Yeah, sounds a bit like it - blame the outsiders for the whole mess, so they can pretend they aren't responsible for their own site ... Plus, to me it sounds like it is criminalising the writers. Sure, fanfiction is using other people's property and strictly speaking illegal, but seeing that they have probably the biggest fanfiction archive it seems rather strange to me.

Not really news but I found this really amusing. It's a thread belonging to the Literate Union about getting rid of all the swear words in their forum. You only need to read from just over half way down the page where Lord Kelvin comes in, and to the bottom of it. Really amused me to see him getting "told off" by someone in the Union. Might lift people's spirits a tiny bit. forum.fanfiction.net/topic/61196/63607157/1/

When the bad guys begin to distrust each others, then I'm certainly not complaining. Just put them together into their own sandbox, let them get busy with each other, maybe then they forget to harrass the rest of the world

HAHA! I'd find that funnier if I didn't work in the same room as an Umbridge look-alike who's too sugary sweet to be real and has the most skin-crawling girlish laugh I've ever heard. She also wears a lot of pink, though sometimes it's green. CREEPS ME OUT!
