Kohl followed Jei, still feeling embarassed. She watched him dive at the food, and rolled her eyes. Jei and his food. She began sifting through her own pile, when she came across a yellow looking sweet. Curious, she licked it. It was citrusy sweet and slightly tangy, but pleasant enough. Not her favorite, but sort of like sugar. She finished the sweet. She saw an open bag, and picked it up, leading the sweets to Jei.
"Look what I found!" she said excitedly, dropping the bag in front of Jei.

Jei looked up from his search (He'd found a nice bushel of carrots that he'd been snaking on), and he glanced curiously at the bag that Kohl brought. He tasted one and screw up his eyes. It was alright, but a bit tangy, still good though. "What is it?" he asked curiously.

Just then, Fawkes had flown down for a snack before hunting for penguins, and noticed the two foals pawing at the Lemon Drops. He landed not far from them and said dramatically. "My Lemon Drop senses are tingling!"

Kohl was about to reply she didn't know, when a strange phoenix landed near them and trilled something about lemons and drops. She stared at him for a second, before turning to Jei. "Who's that, and what are Lemon Drops? Are they like Lemon Tears or something?" she asked.

Jei shrugged, unsure. He thought that this was Lucinda's friend, but he'd never really met this phoenix. Instead, he looked toward the stranger for answers.

Fawkes hopped forward in amusement, "My name is Fawkes, I'm a friend of Lucinda's." He answered as he pecked at a Lemon Drop for himself. "And these little candies here was called Lemon Drops, best food on this planet."

"They're nice," said Kohl politely, "I'm Kohl, and this is Jei, it's nice to meet you Mr. Fawkes, sir." She looked to Jei, and then back at the bird beside them, silently asking him what they were to do now.

"Please, Just Fawkes." The bird insisted before taking a second lemon drop. "Just thought I'd drop by for a treat before going to find some penguins." He gave the two foals a questioning look. He'd like to have some fun with them, they looked like someone he could entertain himself with.

Jei just looked back a Kohl with an equally confused expression. "Penguins?" He asked in a confused tone, "What are they?"

"What are penguins?" Fawkes repeated in a scandalous voice, "Dear god, you don't know what a penguin is! Poor, poor boy. It's a flightless bird wearing a tuxedo of course!"

"How can it be a bird if it doesn't fly? And what's a tuxedo?" asked Kohl. The bird made no sense. She glanced over at Jei, wondering if he knew what Fawkes was saying.

"Not all birds fly!" Fawkes repeated, "I'm not flying right now? Am I not a bird?" He looked up at the foals with a questioning look, the colt looked confused, unsure if he should nod or shake it's head, so it did a weird diagonal sort of motion. "But of course I am! A fish who doesn't swim, is still a fish! Albeit probably a dead fish, but a fish none the less! So of course a Penguin cannot fly, yet is still a bird!"
"A tuxedo! Much like those odd suits that muggle men wear to weddings and formal services. Looks like a penguin."

"W-What?" Jei asked, still having no clue what the bird was talking about. Tuxedos? Penguins? Suits?

"Suits? And if it doesn't fly, how does it move?" asked Kohl, getting more impatient with the strange phoenix with each passing minute.

"Same way I move on land!" He proceeded to illustrate by waddling around in a penguin-like fashion. "Don't move very fast, mind you, but they get around. You should see them in water! Swim faster then you can run, birds that don't fly and can swim! Odd things they are, but nice little beasts." He shook his head, "How would you to younglings like to join my in the quest for penguins?"

Jei brightened at the prospect at finding the penguins, this bird seemed very nice and fun to explore with. He looked over at Kohl to see if she would want to go.

Fawkes was a strange bird, and Kohl felt oddly disjointed with him. Nevertheless, a penguin sounded like an interesting creature, and she really did want to know what it was...
"Okay," said Kohl, "Let's find penguins, as long as we don't need to go near spiders."

Fawkes shook his head quickly, "Ah, Lucinda said something about Agora being a bit rash," He eyed the two foals, "Where you two the ones she bothered?" He was still a bit peeved at the large spider for being so stupid.

Lucinda gazed up at Rhea sadly. She could very well guess why something like that had happened. "I'm sorry to hear that. But that's her loss then, isn't it? You're a wonderful person to be around."

"Something like that," muttered Kohl, dropping her eyes to the ground. "Lucinda fixed it, and Jei kept her off. Anyways, how do we find penguins? Do you know where we go?"

Rhea went red as she blushed at the compliment. "Thanks." She thought a bit more about Alexis... Then decided that she should just drop the subject. Alexis wasn't about to be her friend again, so Rhea should just stop dreaming about it.

Fawkes watched the filly with an air of seriousness before letting it go, Kohl obviously didn't want to speak about it. He returned to his bore exuberant demeanor and replied animatedly. "Absolutely no idea! But that's the fun of it, we have to find them!" He gave a trill of amusement as he jumped a few feet in the air, flying in small circle as if looking for something.

By now, Jei was fairly speechless. The bird was acting insane, but hilarious. Definitely good company, and despite his odd behavior... Jei had seen how serious Fawkes had been about Agora, so maybe he wasn't all crazy. "Where will we start then?"
"I don't know! You choose." Replied the bird. Jei look at Kohl for suggestions.

Kohl stared at Jei and Fawkes in exasperation. I'm the youngest here! Why am I making the decision?! she wanted to yell. Instead, she looked around. To one end was the ice cave, the other the gloomy dementors. She turned to see was looked like an icy expanse, more like a lake, and the ice seemed cracked. Maybe she could try running on water! Well, if they didn't find penguins.
"That way," she said awkwardly, pointing to the icy expanse, "It looks watery, penguins need water to live, right?"

Jei blinked. He'd never swam before, he'd been in the lake before when he was younger, but he hadn't done much other then flop around. "Er... I dunno."

Rhea looked a Lucinda and turned to pick up her book with a smile. She flashed the cover toward the bird and said, "It's a really old classic, The Ranger's Apprentice. It's written by a long dead Muggle, but it's alright."

With that, she began trotting forward, the memory of this morning long forgotten. Wait, where had that come from again? She was turning into a softie! Shaking her head furiously to erase that thought, she made up her mind to have as much fun as possible to forget yesterday and this morning, all of it. |

It didn't take long for them to reach the ice. Fawkes peered over it, and saw some more solid ice formations on the other side, "That looks like a good place for penguins!" He said happily, while keeping one eye on the unicorns... if the ice broke, then he'd be down there pulling them out in a blink of an eye.

Jei looked at the ice uncertainly, and took a step onto it slowly, relieved when it didn't give way immediately.

Rhea read for a few pages- the prologue- before she looked away from her book an at Lucinda, "What do you think?"

Kohl glanced at the ice and stepped on. It was cool and slippery.
"Want to race Jei? Bet I won't slip first," she said slyly to the older boy, as she slid across, finding her balance.

"You're on!" Jei replied immediately as he forgot all caution and darted out onto the ice, slipping and falling, like Bambi in those muggle movies, straight away.

Kohl laughed as Kei slipped, and she began gliding smoothly at first, only to lose her balance and stumble on top of Jei!
"I still win," she argued, embarrassed as she tried getting up, only to slip again.

Lucinda made herself more comfortable. "Well whatever it is, you do it well." she half-yawned, feeling her eyelids droop a little.

Jei laughed, "Nuh-uh!" He argued as he also tried to regain balance, skidding every which way the whole time. "You fell after the same amount on the ice as me!"

Fawkes landed a few meters from the Unicorns on the ice, watching with amused eyes.
